  1. Cora actually spoke very highly of Hanley just a couple of days ago, saying that he was surprised that no team has grabbed him yet. Which kind of begs the question, why did we DFA him then? Oh yeah, the option....
  2. A team in contention this year should not be weakening the team, however slight, to benefit next year. Not when Hanley could have been DFA'd later in the season, if needed. And to answer your question, I'm not signing Kimbrel to a big contract.
  3. Well, that's my point. This was a financial decision to benefit next season, not a baseball move to benefit this season.
  4. How often do GMs DFA a player after one bad month, especially after a good month?
  5. If Pedroia will be unable to return, then I'd tend to agree. As of now, I think we can afford to wait the situation out a little longer.
  6. This is a fair point about Errors, which are not the best defensive measurement. Devers' DRS is currently -4. Nunez' DRS is currently -10. Between them they have cost us roughly a game and a half defensively. That said, the team is winning at a very good clip. We can afford to be patient with Devers.
  7. Good post Nick. This does not make me shudder.
  8. I have absolutely no problems with our two catchers.
  9. That is my opinion as well.
  10. As you like to say, Boom.
  11. IMO, this team does not really have a weakness that needs to be addressed, provided the team stays healthy. If Pedroia cannot return, I would look to upgrade at 2B.
  12. 10 years? Now is when we need that GIF of me shuddering.
  13. Just returning the favor in kind. I don't know what makes you think your team has so much greater likelihood of winning the division than the Sox do. You are confident in your team. I am equally as confident in my team. It will be a tough race for the Sox, as it will be for the Yankees. Don't underestimate the Good Guys.
  14. I can't argue with any of that. All I've been saying is that he was DFA'd too soon. We all know that if he didn't have the option, he would not have been let go in May. Hanley was brutal in May, but he was pretty darn good in April. Don't you think it's possible that he was going to break out of the slump and be a decent right handed bat for this team? IMO, the FO made a move based on improving the financial situation for next year while likely weakening the team somewhat. That's not the type of decision to make when you are trying to win a pennant. At least wait until the deadline to see if Hanley could rebound.
  15. The Sox are 14-1 in Christian Vazquez' last 15 starts.
  16. Do you disagree that Devers was called up before he was ready?
  17. I really don't have any issues with Devers. I understand that he is very young and that we have to be patient with him. Even with his struggles, he doesn't seem to be hurting the team.
  18. We will have LeBlanc's number next time.
  19. Just say no to Machado. Even if Machado weren't a punk, I would rather have Devers.
  20. Except that the team was getting to the playoffs and likely winning the division regardless of Dombrowski's moves. Those two last place finishes were flukes. The team was primed before Dombrowski stepped foot in Boston.
  21. Ding! Ding! Ding!
