    Porcello, IMO, does not get the credit he deserves. His durability and his ability to give 6+ innings on most starts seems very undervalued.

    No, not being frugal, but being smart. Which means not spending like drunken sailors just because they can afford to do so.

    On a related and very exciting note, Fangraphs has now added catcher framing stats to its player and leader pages. Also, its WAR calculation for catchers now includes 'framing' and catcher WAR stats have been updated to reflect that. https://blogs.fangraphs.com/war-update-catcher-framing/

    Swihart has been blowing his competition away offensively so far in ST. I wonder how much weight that will hold in deciding who stays and who goes. Not too much, I hope.

    Mookie will get paid. He shouldn't get as much as Trout, because he's not quite as good as Trout, but he'll get paid.

    I hate to think of losing him as well. OTOH, the idea of giving a player a 12 year contract makes me sick.

    My prediction: Barnes will be the closer early in the season. He may or may not be supplanted by Brewer.

    If that looks like it's going to be the case, the Sox need to start looking into trading him after this season.

    I'm surprised they haven't done that already. IMO, JD should have started taking reps at 1B as soon as Hanley was released.

    We have the worst record in the Grapefruit League!

    I think it's a combination of not pushing Pedroia too fast and not pushing our pitchers too hard to open the season. The Sox play 11 games in a row, with no off day, which is kind of unusual to start the season. If I'm not mistaken, I think Cora mentioned wanting to have that extra pitcher to go with a 6th starter the first time through the rotation.

    I would be willing to take a trip to Fenway if someone wanted to pay my expenses.

    I have my DVR set for the Mariners/Athletics game. I'm excited for some regular season baseball.

    Sweeping a 3 game series is difficult to do. Sweeping a 4 game series is even more difficult. I'd be very happy with winning 3 of 4.
