  1. The Twins are a very good team this year. Very good. They haven't lost 3 games in a row this season, if I'm not mistaken, and haven't lost 2 in a row that many times. To beat them in the first game and to play them as tightly as we played them in the second game says good things about the Red Sox. Both games could have gone either way, suggesting that the teams match up pretty evenly. I'm good with that, though I hated losing last night's game.
  2. Perfect post. LOL
  3. It doesn't look too promising at the moment, but I'm not giving up on the division. There's plenty of baseball left to be played.
  4. Perhaps it is time to start the "Trade JD Martinez" thread.
  5. Porcello just might be willing to take the QO.
  6. Baseball. Go figure.
  7. Last night's game was a back breaker, but win tonight and all those bad feelings and sour tastes will be gone. Needless to say, it's very frustrating to lose a 17 inning game by 1 run, but that really is a good sign for the Sox. It might be harder to take, but it's better than being blown out 10-1.
  8. I am always 100% willing to sacrifice my fantasy team for the good of the Red Sox.
  9. It's hard to know what's going on. It might be that Henry is really adamant about not going over the next luxury tax line or that Porcello's idea of a home town discount really isn't much of a discount. Or it could be any other number of things. Maybe they think they can find a better option for cheaper. We'll see.
  10. One game at a time.
  11. There is still a long battle to be fought. Our recent win streak by no means makes a lock for the playoffs, much less for the division. That said, wanting to blow up the team in mid June is a little silly. Not saying that to you personally, but in general. As Moon always says, we should try not to be so reactionary after a couple of losses (or wins). It's a long season. We haven't really fired on all cylinders yet. I like our chances for the playoffs, for the division, and for the World Series.
  12. Agreed. Porcello did a good job of keeping the hitters off balance. And as you stated in your previous post, I think Leon has a lot to do with that.
  13. Very solid post Max.
  14. As I posted in the Porcello thread, I think some are hung up on his ERA. The ERA is meh, but pitching is not just about ERA.
  15. It might not be a stretch that Dombrowski picks up another starter, then moves Eovaldi to the pen for the remainder of the season. I do not advocate putting a solid starter in the bullpen, but it might be the way to go, depending on who's available and on the health of Eovaldi.
  16. Mal, I agree with the others. You are an inspiration. I hope you find a way to continue posting.
  17. Porcello said that he would be open to negotiating a new contract during the season. My hope is that he continues to pitch great, and the Sox have a change of heart about giving him that extension before he reaches free agency.
  18. Completely agree Oldtimer. Since before the season started, I have felt that the Yankees rotation was their weakness. As I posted before, I would rather have a strong rotation and a mediocre bullpen than the other way around. German came through big for the Yankees at the start of the season, but not only is he going to be limited in innings, he has not fared as well in his last few outings. If we can get Eovaldi back healthy, that would not only boost our rotation, but it would help our pen out as well.
  19. Mark this date down in history. Denny agrees with the nerds!
  20. Brewer has really good stuff. The results have not been there, but the peripherals are. I'm not saying that there wasn't some luck involved (there almost always is), but Brewer was able to induce weak contact when he needed it.
  21. Pythagorean W-L records to date: Yankees 43-28 (.606) Rays 46-26 (.639) Red Sox 42-32 (.567) Rangers 39-33 (.542) Athletics 39-34 (.534) Guardians 36-35 (.507) Two observations to be made here: 1. The Yankees are forever the luckiest team around. 2. The Red Sox are right in the thick of things. It needs to be said again. Back to back to back to back.
  22. Cora didn't have a whole lot of choice in relievers last night. Most of the relievers were not available. Basically, his only choice was between leaving Porcello in for the 8th or bringing Brewer in. His rationale behind going with Brewer, which included asking Porcello how he felt, was solid.
  23. I understand the emotions and the overreactions of the game threads. I really do. I have my moments myself. But I just don't have the energy to post in game threads during the games. It takes too much out of me.
  24. We should. But not for too many years.
