  1. Exactly. You said that much better than I did.
  2. Of course, you start the Bogaerts thread and he promptly strikes out a career first 4 times in the game. LOL I remember a poster at BDC, who supposedly had an inside source, posting about high the Sox were on Bogaerts, and how the Sox would never trade Bogaerts. This was several years ago. Bogaerts is becoming everything the Sox anticipated he'd become, including a great clubhouse guy. As I posted in another thread, I've gained a lot of respect for Bogaerts this year.
  3. I would prefer that none of our guys participated in the All Star Game, and took the time to rest instead. That said, it really is a mockery that Bogaerts (initially), Devers, and Vazquez didn't make the team. Fans are voting for their favorite players. That's fine, but then it shouldn't be called the "All Star Game". Let the stat geeks vote.
  4. He does, but it's not very flattering.
  5. Ha. I'm all for giving Slasher his own thread, but he knows I love him too. There's plenty of love to go around.
  6. Darwinzon Hernandez has been moved to the pen in AAA in hopes that he will be able to help the pen out later in the year.
  7. That could be. I hope the Sox don't rush him back out of desperation.
  8. I do agree that Eovaldi in the pen is better than no Eovaldi.
  9. As I've said, if it's a move being done for the health of Eovaldi, which includes being able to get him back quicker, then fine. I can agree with the move. If Eovaldi could solidify the 5th spot in the rotation, that would almost definitely help the pen out as well. My belief is that the pen can only be as good as the starting rotation allows them to be. Our pen was built on the idea that the starters would be a strength. I don't think adding Eovaldi to the pen is going to help much if the rotation continues to give mediocre performances.
  10. Vaz knows I love him. He doesn't need his own thread.
  11. !!! Randomness is always a huge factor in the game of baseball.
  12. Nice find!
  13. Word on the street is that he could return a few games after the All Star Break. That could mean pretty much anything. LOL
  14. And since Xander doesn't have his own performance thread, a shout out to him too. I have gained a lot of respect for Xander this year, for many reasons.
  15. I wouldn't go signing him to any long term deals just yet, but Devers has been a breath of fresh air this season. By all accounts, he worked extremely hard in the offseason and continues to work extremely hard, taking tutelage from the likes of Bogaerts and JD. It's nice to see his hard work paying off, both offensively and defensively.
  16. Yup. The FO wouldn't look so bad if they didn't say one thing one week, then do the exact opposite thing the next week. It tends to make them look desperate. There is a sense of urgency, yes, but a FO should not be making reactionary moves.
  17. Our starters were really bad to start of the season, which had an early impact on the pen. They seemed to have gotten it together, but as you said, have let us down again recently. We need someone to shore up that 5th spot, along with the rest of the rotation pitching to their ability.
  18. It's his own fault for firing Theo back in the day. And then for firing Ben.
  19. Obviously, the advantage currently goes to the Yankees. It will be very difficult to catch them for the division. But not impossible. Don't give up!
  20. Yeah, I was hopeful that Sale was back to form too. He has had some hard luck losses, but he has not been the 'ace' that we need him to be.
  21. I agree that the team needs to do something about the pen, but I believe that solidifying the rotation is more important. By shoring up the rotation, you indirectly strengthen the pen. A panic move may be called for, but not if it's going to end up hurting the team overall. We shall see. Again, if putting Eovaldi in the pen is better for his arm health-wise, then I'm all for the move. Otherwise, I disagree with it. Bottom line - the players that we have need to perform to expectations.
  22. I agree that the pen needs some help. That said, getting relief help is not going to do the team any good if the starters continue to fall short and the offense continues to be sporadic.
  23. Starting pitching was supposed to be our strength. They have not held up their end, which makes it more difficult for the pen to do their job. I'm not saying that we don't need pen help, but first and foremost, we need to the starters to be better.
