Well I can't imagine how they could play games in November in some of those cold weather stadiums. I'm guessing that the eventual call will be to just play a shortened season.

They should do that, regardless.

The current thinking is to reschedule the missed games on the back end of the season. I'm guessing that will change based on the number of games that are missed, but they may be playing baseball until Thanksgiving or Christmas! LOL

Also, I'm not sure I could put Bonds on the list. I am not familiar enough with the other sports. Are any of those guys known steroids users?

It's not quite as simple as going strictly off WAR. That is why you should not use the players' aggregate projected WAR to determine how many wins the team will have, although admittedly, I've done that myself. It's a good starting point, but it's not as simple as that. Mookie is definitely a better player than Price. I think our offense was and is good enough to overcome the loss of Mookie easier than our pitching staff can overcome the loss of Price. As of now, we have 3 starters. Having the bullpen try to cover the innings of two starters, plus the normal relief workload is going to leave the pen overworked and overexposed.

A closer should not be saved for the 9th inning, just because it's the 9th inning.

I can agree with that. However, I don't agree with the idea that a team needs to pay a lot for these relievers.

Trading Betts is not what will keep the Sox out of the playoffs. Trading Price, OTOH, is a different story.

I think that trading away those young prospects kind of defeats the purpose of what Bloom is trying to do. I completely understand how badly we need pitching. I just don't think that trading away an already barren farm is the way to get it.
