  1. The Dodgers are at the point where they're ready to go all in. They want that championship. If the Sox don't win it all, I wouldn't mind seeing the Dodgers win it. Edit: Of course we'll never hear the end of the "we never should have traded Mookie!" rants. LOL
  2. MLB is (or was) reconsidering expanded playoffs. If I'm not mistaken, the decision will have to be made today before the games start. That would increase the number of playoff teams to 16.
  3. Yes, that is exactly what Roenicke is thinking, which is a big reason why he put JD 2nd. I'm okay with that. I would prefer Devers and JD in the 2nd and 4th spots, in either order, but I'm okay with what he's going with. As you said, there will likely be changes in the lineup throughout the short season.
  4. I am shocked that the Dodgers would offer that kind of deal when every other team is talking about cutting back. Sure, they have the money and can afford that kind of deal, but they are throwing money around needlessly. Seriously, is there any other team that would have offered Mookie anything close to that kind of money this offseason? I think the Dodgers greatly outbid themselves. That contract is crazy in the best of times. It is beyond crazy in these uncertain times.
  5. To be fair, the circumstances changed drastically. For a while, it looked like Mookie was going to come to regret his decision to test free agency. He is fortunate that the Dodgers were willing to give him this kind of deal under these circumstances. He would have been stupid not to jump all over that. Good for Mookie. He bet on himself and never wavered. In the end, it worked out for him. I wish him the best with the Dodgers, but I am not the least bit sad that we traded him. In fact, I am thrilled that we did not sign him for anything close to the Dodgers' deal.
  6. Roenicke really likes the idea of JD in the #2 hole. He's been paying attention. Hopefully, he won't bat Devers 3rd.
  7. Or maybe the Sox felt that Mookie's counter of $420 was so outrageous that they didn't bother. Perhaps it was Mookie who wasn't serious about staying with the Sox?
  8. In these uncertain times especially, $350 sounds like an overpay to me. A pretty big one, actually.
  9. The Sox offered Mookie $300 million. He countered with $420 million. I disagree that the Sox really didn't have an interest in signing that large of a contract.
  10. You were already wrong when you posted this: "Yanks win."
  11. That's a possibility, I guess. I'm thinking the Dodgers could have gotten him for less.
  12. Ouch. I didn't see that post. Regardless, it's false information.
  13. I wonder if he would have signed the extension if there were no pandemic.
  14. We don't want Mookie for that deal.
  15. If Mookie gets that extension with the Dodgers then very good for him! Not a good move on the Dodgers' part, IMO, and I'm surprised that they are willing to do that right now, but I'm happy for Mookie that he will get that huge deal.
  16. In case anyone is unaware, there are two baseball games being aired on ESPN tomorrow: Yankees @ Nationals at 7:08 and Giants @ Dodgers at 10:08. Real baseball is finally here!
  17. I would agree. It's time for a young unknown to come out of nowhere and be our lights out closer.
  18. I'm surprised MLB.TV doesn't black out the Rays. I have the Os/Nats channel on my cable package, so I don't miss any Sox games. I just have to listen to their feed. I guess I should go ahead and order the baseball package for this season...
  19. LOL Kudos to the dedicated Os fans still posting on a forum!
  20. Workman had excellent results last year. However, his peripherals betrayed him. He may be an implosion waiting to happen.
  21. I am hopeful. Excited, actually.
  22. MLB.TV typically offers you the choice of both feeds. Do NOT, I repeat, do NOT choose a feed with Gary Thorne in it. EVER. Unfortunately for me, MLB.TV and extra innings are blacked out for the Os and Nats game. I have no choice but to listen to the Os feed.
  23. Typical O's fashion.
  24. Also, we're slugging our way to the World Series!
