  1. Ha ha! Correct. (Except when management realizes that the fans pay the bills; ... or maybe they don't! The advertisers, with no clue as to what their potential customers think, pay the bills.)
  2. I'm far more egalitarian. I celebrate all games, win or lose, with carefully measured cup of tea in the second inning.
  3. Let's just hope he gets 400 at bats there, so he won't have to have any here.
  4. Holy sh*t! I can't recall seeing a better throw than that.
  5. Being the next JBJ would not be a downside.
  6. Yeah! Slow down!!!
  7. Me neither. OF course, that's because I'm now the slow driver in front ofyou.
  8. I agree entirely. I'm not sure which central aspect of modern sports irritates me the most: the emphasis on the post-season (all 0 games of it) over the 82 or 162 regular season games, or the notion that the 'true' baseball fan is no longer a 10-year-old with a glove, but rather an 8-year-old with a play station longing for the days of adulthood when he can play fantasy sports.
  9. Can't remember much about it, but wasn't Chavis in the OF for a few games last year? Were the results so bad they won't try it again? (Or am I mis-remembering everything.)
  10. I don't think questioning why a guy who was 0-25 is starting games is accurately described as 'bitching'! But hey, as long as he gets 3 hits a game, and doesn't misplay balls in the field, I have no complaints.
  11. Well, I actually have been asking for the last few games WHY Franchy is in there. I guess today is the answer?
  12. I dunno. I think you need to give Franchy another 200-300 ABs before making any decisions. Maybe a contract extension. Can't tell anything about these small sample sizes.
  13. Do I have to ask during every game: why is Cordero on the field?
  14. I hate to see current or former RS players crash. That's why I always root(ed) for Betts, Boggs, Clemens, Beltre, JBJ, Benintendi ... now the list is too long to do more than allude to. But Ellsbury's career was especially painful to watch. One of my alltime favorite players when he was here.
  15. But then again, I'm not the one responding to it!
  16. Sure. It's not our money. Take all you want!
  17. I believe the depths of irony and wit in this post far surpass my abilities to understand them.
  18. There is no question that Cordero is a better "deal" than Mookie. So is a 2003 Civic at $100 over a brand-new BMW at $500,000. Which would you rather drive?
  19. Did I just hear someone suggest that Cordero has missed so much time, he really needs to be given 400-500 ABs before making any judgments regarding him?
  20. What's happened to Valdez, who was pitching a lot better than those who have been run out there in the last few games?
  21. The one thing Cordero did that was positive was ensuring he wouldn't lead off the 3rd.
  22. Is there any reason to keep Cordero? Other than in the vain hope that the Benintendi trade will eventually look good?
  23. I don't think he was asking that anyone feel sorry for them. He was asking whether a boss (in any profession) should be able to treat you like property.
  24. There was a problem a couple of hundred years ago in this country with the notion that workers were owned, and could be sold. Not sure why that system is reconstituted on the upper levels. But not many workers for, say, GE wake up in the morning to discover that they've been reassigned to Xerox and need to show up for work on Monday. Maybe the next CBA will address this?
  25. Yup. (Although I will concede that it teaches a valuable life lesson: that there are many folks out there of no great skill or intelligence, who get off on exercising arbitrary power over others.)
