    He also had one of the greatest OF plays in RS history, running into the ball that hit the fence, an almost certain triple and somehow, deflecting it off his body into the bullpen for a ground rule double. That's the sort of thing like speed--you just can't teach it.

    Don't know who Middle is ... oh yes, Middlebrooks, of course. I think they're not as bad as the Kevins but why risk it? pretty much whenever I hear a voice telling me how it's better to swing at a good pitch than one off the plate and hit it fair rather than foul and how much fun it was to play back when, and and maybe Devers is like Ortiz but maybe not when you think about it and ... etc. etc. etc., I turn to Joe Castiglione; if anything interesting happens, I can check the delayed feed video.

    I heard the name Kevin and immediately turned to Joe C. I don't care that the sound and video aren't sinced. I just can't stand listening to these people. Do they let journalism students pinch hit?

    The time clock violations were (at least the ones I saw) called because Jansen started into his wind up (with plenty of time on the clock), before the batter was even close to being ready. They were really for 'quick-pitches', no?, not for taking too much time.

    Kike's glove isn't the problem! It's his throwing that's bad.

    (with some pity extended to their fans who have to live in that area). For me, it was the pompous, God-fearing, B-student high-school classmate who came from there along with his church-going predatory mom.

    You're obviously being ironic, but it amazes me the number of presumed fans who claim to believe this. That the Pete Rozelle insistence on 'parity' has ruined sports. They long to be like Nebraska fans who fill the stadium to watch their guys whoop ass on Akron. And apparently can't stand the notion of competition between equals--you know, like Frazier/Ali.

    Tapia is a lot of fun to watch on the basepaths ... IF he can just get there more often. Becoming one of my favorite players for his speed and hustle. (Hear that, Tristan? Maybe the next time you ground out you can actually run down the basepath instead of doing your Hanley Ramirez imitations?)

    I don't remember that you and I ever got into it, but you're probably correct. But the truly astonishing thing is that there are those, apparently humans, who disagree with us about Youk.

    I like it. The alternative is listening to someone like Youk. (I also liked how he described playing OF as boring. Must have been brutal before the pitch clock.)
