Well, since every other human I know who has gone into administration has tried to do that--put their stamp on the organization, 'make their mark'--then absolutely yes. I could rephrase what you just said "Do you seriously think Bloom was NOT trying to make a mark?" So yes, the Betts trade probably brought him more fame than anything else. (It was great to see the ovation Betts got; and especially good to see how much of it was coming from Red Sox players.)

Well, BLoom wanted to make his mark with that trade and he certainly did.How he still has a job is beyond me, but I suppose it's because this is what he was hired to do and be: pay-roll cutting and taking the fall for ownership.

Oh God, was this one of those a-hole appeals to some 'unwritten rule' that you can't swing at a 3-0 pitch because ... because ... oh I forget why but ...

No no no! She's going to hook up with me. I just KNOW it. It's in her interest and she'll realize that ... well, maybe not today ... but soon ... maybe in another year or ... well ... at some point ...

None that I know. But most posters here shouldn't be hitting on anyone 25-29 either.

If you have to ask the Mom how old the chick you're hitting on is, DON'T HIT ON HER. (It's not a complicated principle, but a fairly straight-forward one).

Yes he was, and he seems to have been a model citizen since (except for a couple of incidents this season, which in fact surprised me). But he was still under a cloud when he was signed. This isn't about Verdugo/McQuire/Franco. It's about the opportunities Bloom sees for getting players cheap, without consideration of what it is that makes them cheap.

Let's see: Verdugo, McQuire ... Sounds like a perfect Bloom signing to me.

RS base-runners doing their thing again.

OMG the only strike Bieber has thrown--right down the middle and Rafy takes it-
  11. jad
The only line-up change I would make is for Yoshi to bat 1-9.
  12. jad
He doesn't seem EVER to throw a strike, or ever have to.

My favorite was when she takes her belt off in Point Blank. (Pretty sure I saw that in a drive-in.)

Stop living in the past. Sox need you NOW!

Too bad we can't get pitchers like, oh, E. Rodriguez or Nate Eovaldi.

What a dismal AB by Duran!
  17. jad
Why DFA Tapia, (who has become one of my favorite players)? He's fast; he plays hard all the time; he's fun to watch.
  18. jad
Good Lord, Max, I agree with everything you say (well, except for the last paragraph). Something else we can agree on: this was one of the worst games in RS history. And Rafy really REALLY needs to sit.

When your home town announcers use phrases like "Little League stuff" and "carnival stuff," it ain't good.
  20. jad
And no sooner did you say that, than the fearsome RS defense shows up again ...
  21. jad
Just let OB do it alone. These other guys were called "idiots" for a reason.
  22. jad
Robo-umps cannot get here fast enough.

  24. jad
Did Turner forget the rules regarding force outs?
  25. jad
Rafy needs to sit. (I say this knowing that the last time I made this suggestion, he went on a tear.)
