  1. hadn't worked in almost a week - easy enough
  2. THIS is filthy stuff ... he might make a mistake (or several), but if you are looking at a 22 year old Cardinal with crazy stuff, dang
  3. BTW: you want electric, ace stuff ... it's not Wacha, it's THIS guy (Martinez)
  4. Better throw gets Kozma ... Breslow should have eaten that, s***
  5. Breslow paying too much attention to Kozma ... let him steal 3rd, just keep the double play in order ...
  6. Lackey did his thing - got us a lead, got us to Breslow without going through Morales or Workman, collecting $200
  7. I don't think Koji will be in for 6 outs ... but overworking is a nonissue: 1. Hasn't pitched in almost a week 2. Day off tomorrow 3. We've got the rest of the offseason to heal - this is why you manage these guys carefully April-September
  8. I wouldn't expect it - I think Breslow gets a spin - although with the schedule breaking the way it has, no doubt Farrell will have no problem going to Uehara quickly.
  9. I can go either way here ... travel day, Koji has not pitched since Saturday - it is not a bad thing to get him some work if that situation came up.
  10. Cards are playing well tonight - if every series comes down to margins like this, as a Sox fan I am still sufficiently nervous.
  11. It's that, but it is also spoiling pitches, competing ... strategy doesn't work if we are swinging at 3 pitches down the middle.
  12. Wish he did that more, because he clearly can ... We have the lead - we have the travel day (so we can bring Koji in early without any qualms). Lackey has been really sharp, but no reason to not quick hook now.
  13. Without a good 3rd pitch, going to be hard to be an ace in the long run
  14. The way Buck read that promo, you'd think BOSTON COLLEGE was in the Big East too ... and yes, Raftery is the best college basketball analyst, not that it's a loaded field
  15. McCarver is sorta right there - hitters often are not aggressive enough on 3-0 count ... but the reason that's the case is that the umps seem FAR likelier to call a borderline pitch a strike.
  16. We know they will adjust - Wacha is not really fooling them. The stuff is good, but the at-bats have looked relatively comfortable.
  17. Cute decoy attempt by Holliday - come on, as if Pedroia doesn't know how hard he hit that?
  18. Sox needed a run anyway. Did a good job keeping the damage to a minimum.
  19. Yeah. Not good, not bad. As noted earlier - the at-bats (at least before the bottom of the order) have been ok ...
  20. Way to fight that off ... obvious steal situation here
  21. He is getting a lot of swing and miss in the strike zone, which is a bad sign ...
  22. Team led the NL in runs - but much more a doubles team than a homerun hitting one (team fits their ballpark more or less). And Kozma is basically about as bad a baseball player as has started on a pennant winner. The lineup is professional, but lot of them can be pitched to. Even Beltran, who is not as amazing as his postseason numbers (nobody is).
  23. I doubt it - that was a razor close series. Just a bunch of coin flip games against a worthy opponent. It's not like when we beat Cleveland in 2007 or New York in 2004 - where I could walk away and say "i think we beat the 2nd best team in the majors". But it's close.
  24. Buck would be better if he were paired with a sentient human being (like a Ron Darling or someone) instead of Tim McCarver.
  25. We don't look confused or fooled at the plate - working counts ok.
