  1. Hitch makes a lot of sense and I commend him for his logic and detachment from the Yankees. However, Hitch is a new fan and had not been conditioned as many of us rightfully are by the past bad behavior of the evil empire aka NYY.
  2. I agree with you on that ... McCann was a huge upgrade over Stewart ... that was a good move ... Letting Cano go because of the Ellsbury signing is where the Yankees messed up. McCann & Cano > McCann & Ellsbury
  3. I think that the Dodgers can find another team willing to give more than a Dempster in return for Kemp. There are many teams that are desperate enough to deal for Kemp and his upside potential.
  4. Way too early to give up on WMB.
  5. ^Nice Post ... I wonder what James has him projected at in 2014.
  6. Jacko ... have you ever considered coming over to the good side?
  7. I am on eps. 10 of season 1.
  8. I am online all day and a good part of the night like tonight as I am watching all the Homeland series on the Showtime Network. Guys ... Homeland is awesome.
  9. You wish we felt this way. We enjoy winning now and the addition of Ellsbury with the loss of Cano is a net loss to the Yankees. Now let's hope that Tanaka is staying put in Japan.
  10. He would be a fool not to. Especially since Seattle has a more promising future than the Yankees. Seattle has a much better chance of winning their division over the next 5-7 years. If Seattle goes after Price you will really have a contender.
  11. You have faulty logic here. You are only talking about AAV ... Are the Yankees going to move from 7 years to 10? 3 extra years added to 7 years is a 43% increase. Cano would be a absolute fool not to take this contract especially since the Yankees are not going to be good for a long time.
  12. ^Funny stuff. Be nice to Fred.
  13. Fred, you are 100% correct. Sox fans should be laughing at such rumors until the ink has dried on a Seattle - Cano contract ... and even then you might have to throw a glass of cold water in my face.
  14. I think that fans are starting to reach to replace Ellsbury's offensive production. James projects JBJ at 15HR's next year. Middlebrooks at 32, Bogaerts at 19 ... I do not think that we need to go out on a limb for either Grandy or Kemp. Sign Napoli and all will be well.
  15. If you can play CF you can catch a ball at 1B or maybe not.
  16. It would also make NYY and Rays weaker. Go Seattle!
  17. Kemp is an option in Left but can also be at 1B should the Sox not sign Nap's
  18. I am not getting this post ... you like Kemp or Grandy for the Sox.
  19. Because of James projection of 32 HR's for WMB next season we have no choice but to give him the opportunity. Cecchini is still a season or two away from the bigs. Much can happen within this time. If WMB performs as James predicts we should all be elated. Put the James projection of Bogaert's and his 19 HR's and we are adding significant offensive production over our 2013 numbers for those 2 positions. Adding Bogaerts and a productive WMB full time to our team in 2014 and we will be adding the equivalent of 2 FA's. More than enough to compensate for the replacement of Ellsbury with JBJ.
  20. Perhaps I should have used the term 'one of our best players' ... my point being is that a Lester extension is no lock.
  21. No love for Nava by many of our own
  22. Great post.
  23. Bill James is predicting a 30HR season from WMB in 2014. 30HR is a rare commodity ... do you really want to trade WMB 30 HR and a very good contract to the Dodgers for the oft injured Kemp's 30 HR and an expensive contract even with the Dodgers absorbing part of it? And on top of this you give them Ranaudo ... did you not notice Ranaudo's body of work in 2013? Our pitching staff is aging ... our numbers 3, 4, & 5 are not spring chickens. If we manage to extend Lester ... a big if considering since we were unable to extend our best player after winning a WS. We need to hold onto our pitching prospects ... Owens, Barnes, Ranaudo, Doubront, Webster, Workman. I need not point out the obvious with Buchholz. We can only hope that 3 out of 6 of the players that I mentioned can work out. Depth at pitching is a strength right now and with pitching if you are not careful our position can change on a dime. I would rather pick up the entire Kemp contract as a salary dump for the Dodgers than give up a top pitching prospect. IMO ... If James has WMB projected to hit 30 HR's then it would be wise to hold onto him.
  24. The best bat the Sox could add would be someone who can play the corner OF spots and even better if somewhat capable in Center. Granderson, Kemp, Beltran.
  25. I would love to see Cano and Price in Seattle ... make it happen
