    I was just reading the Mike Napoli Performance Thread. For someone who we needed back in 2014 at all costs we were not too happy with him throughout the season.

    Drew did the right thing I believe turning down the QO. Coming off a Championship and playing very solid defense and showing some offense in games 5 & 6 his stock is about as high as he could hope it to be all things considered. It is hard to get overly excited with WMB because we were all excited about him heading into the 2013 season. But ... there is a lot to like about Middlebrooks and should he ever put everything together he can be a consistent 30 HR, 100RBI sort of player. I would actually take WMB ahead of Napoli if it came down to the one or the other. Could WMB play 1B ... of course he can.

    I do not think that Hart wanted to play in Boston. He lives our west ... Arizona ... wife and 4 kids. I think that right about now we should be happy to have Napoli back at a fair market rate and a short 2 year contract. Did you see that HR Nap's crushed off of Verlander in the AL Championship Series ... I do think Carp will get some time at 1B this year against RHP.

    You could be right or not. Depends how much cash the Dodgers will eat and how well the prospects they get in return for Kemp do. We really have no knowledge of either.

    It's a very good line-up. Imagine replacing Nava / Gomes with Kemp. Our 1-2 guys would have 15-20HR potential, while our 3-4-5-6-7 would have 25-30 HR potential. Can you say scary!

    He would be a good pick-up imo. I would take him over Gomes because of his versatility in the OF.

    You can't say that ... who can predict who flames out ... obviously if they could they never would have signed Vernon Wells. If the Sox sign Choo I will welcome him with open arms ... I will route for him every AB .... and I will continue to do so until he is no longer playing for the Sox. Will he help us next year ... absolutely. Will he help us in 5 years ... who knows.

    Do you not think we have enough SP's between our major league roster and our AAA roster? Owens might turn out to be as good or better as our number 3. We have 3 players on the roster with legit 30 HR power ... Ortiz, Napoli and Middlebrooks. WMB needs his at bats. I seriously doubt that the Sox are bringing Drew back. If the Mets need a starting SS Drew would be a good value for them even if it means giving up their 2nd round pick.

    Let's say that Tanaka is posted this year for season 2014. Is it not worth grabbing him now so that we have him in seasons 2015 - 2020? We can always manage to trade Peavy and Dempster before opening day.

    That does seem a lot more fair ... where does the 10% come from however ... the players contract or would it be paid directly to the ownership on top of the players actual contract?

    Someone yesterday mentioned the Sox trading for Trumbo ... now it is your opinion that WMB has more value than Trumbo. Why in the world would the Sox sign Drew and trade WMB ... we would be selling low ... very low. Give WMB another opportunity.

    Yeah .... it would be perfect if Tanaka were posted next year rather than now. Of course it probably makes the most sense for Tanaka to remain where he is from an ownership standpoint.

    And what do you want to happen ... Ben to hold a press conference telling the world that they want Tanaka? imo Tanaka helps our team in 2014 thru 2020. Pitching wins championships ... I will joyfully take our 2013 World Series Championship but if it were not for Jon Lester and a crazily clutch port season from David Big Papi Ortiz it would never have happened. The AL Championship will go through Detroit in 2014 and Detroit has some quality pitching ... I was amazed that traded Fister ... made no sense what-so-ever.
