    Not as happy as Ellsbury is. Ben should be offering 100m over 5 today.

    After a slow start to the season Ellsbury has come on strong since June. Sporting an OPS of .894 in June with no HR's is no easy task. then a OPS of .844 in July with only 4 HR's again no easy task. Now comes August with 6 games in the bank an OPS of 1.122 with 2 HR's ... hopefully he is back to his 2011 form. All this while leading the league in SB's. Please do not tell me that he is not the Sox most valuable player.

    Victorino contract is in the ballpark. He is playing great defense and his bat in the 2 spot is more than adequate.

    yada yada yada ... in the end we may never know if Tampa wanted Lester or what the asking price for Meyers was ... the bottom line is that KC took one on the chin and Tampa Bay won the lottery.

    Lester's first full year as a starting pitcher was in 2008. Remember how he had to overcome cancer. Let's forget 2012 and compare Lester to Shields from 2008 to 2011. Lester 65 W's 32 L's Cumulative War of 20.7 Now Shields 54 W's 47 L's Cumulative WAR of 8.1 Are you still feeling pompous?

    None of your facts have contradicted my opinion. And from listening to you in just a short time I doubt that much that you say will change my mind about anything ... you are the guy that knows it all ... you make statements and when asked to produce your scouting reports or whatever you say you are referring to you come up with nada.

    I did not say and here is why ... It just seemed odd to me that the trade was rumored in Boston 9 or 10 days before a deal was made with Tampa. I personally feel that Lester has the stuff and that everything is in his head .... he is a head case .... Shields has never had a year as good as Lester's best.

    Listen Trickey Dick ... The story was covered and it only died after Meyers went to Tampa ... sometimes the GM gets a man crush on a player. Happened with Lugo. Keep on eye on Meyers .... and we can let it die. Because not matter what I say you have to be a jerk and act all pompous.

    Here we are fighting over who was, is, and will be better Shields or Lester. This was never what the tread was about. Is it possible that KC approached Boston about Lester ... maybe they would have wanted Inglesias as well in the deal ... no one can say at this point unless Ben gets on WELI and tells Sox Nation what KC wanted for Meyers. I can only say that at the end of November ... I think the 27th that rumors were swirling about a Lester for Meyers deal. End of Story.

    Palodios made that claim when you include this years numbers. He said it was a wash at the time of this deal. The fact that you make a claim that Lester can never reach his 2010 numbers again is foolish.

    KC made a bad deal letting go of Meyers ... a player they would have under control for a while. There is not a pitcher in baseball that could make KC a contender. They were about 3 more seasons away from doing that type of deal.
