  1. Look around you man ... Ellsbury is one of the premier players in the game both offensively and defensively and you are too blind to see it. Maybe he needs to play for another team to wake you up. The numbers do not lie.
  2. Not only will Ellsbury average a Batting WAR of 5.0 to 5.5 over the next 5 seasons but he will average a fielding WAR of 1 to 1.5. Enough said. Furthermore Ellsbury is going to Average 25 hr's as well as 35 sb's Write it in stone.
  3. My point is that Barry Bonds gained power numbers with age. Ok ... not a good example but Ellsbury is 30 ... he is near his peak ... he is strong and fast. Look at numbers for Rickey Henderson ... did he slow down at age 30? No. You are all wrong about Ellsbury ... he is worth 100 - 110 / 6. Since we really do not know his market value yet it is hard to say what to do with him. Was Josh Hamilton a good signing for the Angels? Was Pujols a good signing for the Angels? Was Crawford or Gonzalez good signings for Boston? Was Cabrera a great signing for Detroit ... finally we get a yes. Would Ellsbury be worth a 110 / 6 contract if he averaged a WAR of 5.0 - 6.0 over the next 6 years?
  4. We can only hope ... maybe we can pick up a decent prospect in the deal ... Maybe KC will be interested.
  5. This was the 13th game A-Rod has played in since his return. It was just stupid.
  6. As of today Ellsbury is 29. Look up some players who were gifted speed wise ... check out their numbers from age 30 - 36. You will be surprised. Also, Ellsbury can hit a little and from what I have seen he does not leg out to many infield hits nor bunt for hits. He is not a slap hitter. His power numbers should increase with age also Barry Bonds, and if they move him to left it will save his legs to steal more and hit more. It will be a big mistake to let him go even at 20m per. Dice K cost the Sox 100m over 5 years and we got very little for it. Ellsbury has much more upside than Crawford does now. The Sox will be trimming a little off payroll in the off season. They might be able to get rid of Dempster for maybe half his cost ... that is 7m alone ... keep Ellsbury.
  7. Very odd that ESPN does not have anything on this transaction. http://espn.go.com/mlb/transactions
  8. I have a feeling that Jerry's kid has been a big pain in his ass for a long time now. I wish only the best for Jerry and for the family of the victim.
  9. You know Bellhorn04 ... you have a good head on your shoulders ... A nice rack too!
  10. Remy's son is a dirtbag ... I read somewhere that he has been arrested close to 14 times in MA alone. This also is not the first time he assaulted a woman. Jerry Remy is a great guy ... but his son.... well ... not so much.
  11. It is extremely painful to know that we are paying Dempster 13M+ next year as well. The Sox have 3 pitchers in the minors who I would rather see on the mound next year. Workman comes to mind immediately. I wonder if the Sox could deal Dempster to a NL Team and eat half his salary?
  12. How about: Did hitting Arod help us to win the game? The answer is no.
  13. Drew was hot but not now ... 3 for last 24.
  14. It really does not matter that we were up 6-3 ... the fact of the matter is Dempster hits a lead-off man in the 2nd inning ... the question is why? Was it because Arod used PED's ... the Red Sox have had our fair share of players using PED's
  15. Not to mention Ortiz wondering when he was going to get plunked each time he stepped in the batters box.
  16. Exactly, for the low information fans out there ... this is the point of the thread.
  17. Hey dumb s*** ... what facts are you talking about? Idiot.
  18. My bad ... you are right ... but only 3 for last 24.
  19. Fine, you think it was a good idea to put a lead-off hitter on base in a 2-0 game in the 2nd inning ... why exactly? You logic is flawed because if you change anything about a game it changes the entire game ... to say that AROD was only responsible for 2 runs and since the Yankees won by 3 that it did not matter is flat out wrong.
  20. I have to disagree ... respectfully of course. The Sox had a 2 run lead and the Yankees had yet to get on the board. Dempster was throwing at AROD with his first pitch. Lead off walks have a way of coming back to haunt you. So with a 2 run lead Dempster decides on putting the lead-off hitter on base. There is not a pitcher on earth who would rather pitch in a tied game vs. having a 2 run lead. It was stupid and he was lucky that more runs were not scored that inning. Your logic is flawed to be kind.
  21. Note to mention the bomb that AROD hit next at bat. Dempster has been a big disappointment for sure.
  22. If Ellsbury was signed we can part with JBJ but since we don't I say no possible way. Just take a look at Sabathia now ... very durable and lot's of innings ... If Lee was 27 - 28 with 4 years left on his contract it would be something to consider but he isn't so it is not going to happen.
  23. With Drew batting a merger .154 for August this makes a lot of sense. The Dodgers series might be an ugly one for the Sox.
