  1. He does. If he can get back to being around a 300 hitter, it will be a bargain as he only gets paid 6 million a year. But that a big if.
  2. Hahaha yup. I don't care how athletic and buff he is. Doesn't mean he can swing the bat well. Considering he hasn't played proffesional baseball in any league in over a year and that his numbers weren't that great in cuba compared to other defectors, I'm worried about castillo. He's 27 too so he's 6 years older than mookie. The red sox better be sure they saw something in him.
  3. Thats what cespedes does best. Struck out his first 3 at bats but when he had the opportunity to drive in a run, he got it done.
  4. If we give up mookie over castillo and castillo turns out to be a joke, I will be beyond pissed.
  5. If we end up keeping betts and castillo, does anyone know if mookie can play short stop?
  6. Bradley is still only hitting .212 in pawtucket. What a joke.
  7. He's got great bat speed for someone who is only 156 pounds. Its pretty incredible.
  8. Unless stuff drastically changes this month, its him, kelly and buchholz for the rotation next year in my opinion.
  9. They got all these damn holes in the lineup. If they aren't going to add anymore offense in the offseason, they just gotta hope our hitters rebound next year. Our starting pitching did that last year so there is hope.
  10. Another person who has done squat with runners on base and in scoring position is mike napoli. When runners aren't on, he is hitting 302. When runners are in scoring position or at first, he is hitting sub .190. Last year he was around .250 in that department so slightly worse than his overall average. Although ba with risp can change drastically from year to year, a good gauge of how productive a hitter has been (especially a middle of the order guy like napoli) is the damage he has done with runners on base. Napoli has done very little, which is why he has only 50 rbis. Ortiz has been the exact opposite. When no one is on, he has been hitting .225 with 15 hrs. With runners on,he is hitting .310 with 15 hrs (some serious damage). Nap has shown this season that he can hit when it doesn't matter but is futile when the opportunities for him to knock some runs in come around. He needs to change his approach with runners on because obviously what ever he is trying this season isn't working( which is trying to hit a damn 8 run hr every time some one is on base).
  11. He's one of the best in the league when he is on. Its just so damn frustrating that he is so inconsistent. He is either amazing or suck.
  12. Well he is ahead of where xander was last year and has been comparable so far in his first months worth of games to xanders april. Hopefully he doesn't fall off of a cliff like xander did (if he is still in a sox uniform next year).
  13. Other than that hr he had in toronto, napoli haa been ice cold lately. He's down to .251 now. We all knew we weren't going to get 2011 nap when we got him but overall I have been slightly disappointed with his production for the sox in the regular season. He's not a bad hitter, but I was hoping he could do a little bit better.
  14. If Joe kelly can keep pitching like this it will be great. He has pitched excellent 4 out of 5 starts and his start versus houston could have been better if xander stepped on second base.
  15. He did. Hope it starts something.
  16. Nice to see the guys who haven't done squat lately (nap and allen craig) do something this game.
  17. The good thing with craig is with his small contract. we could maybe entice a team in a trade with him if he doesn't start hitting.
  18. The Cardinals aren't stupid. They wouldn't trade there best hitter in 2013 and a pitcher for john lackey. I know they are high on oscar taveras, but if they thought craig could be like he use to be there is no way in hell they would have given him and joe kelly to us for lackey.
  19. Allen Craig worries me. Doesn't look anything like the hitter he was last year. Joe Kelly is looking like the better player we got in the deal. The Cardinals knew this guy was damaged goods and dumped him off to us. He has been putrid this year and I hope the sox keep him on a short leash next year. If he continues to struggle next year right off the bat I don't care what he did prior to 2014. He shouldn't be playing.
  20. Mookie looks like he could be a 30 stolen bases guy.
  21. Little people power this inning!
  22. I guess bradley can't even hit in pawtucket. He's got a 189 batting average down there. He's gotta be careful he doesn't get demoted to double a lol (just kidding).
