  1. Only jbj would be capable of following up an unbelievable hot streak with a 1-29 stretch with 17 ks. Its as if during his hot streak he knew exactly what the pitcher was going to do and now is clueless.
  2. Jackie has certainly hit like the Jackie we use to know these last 25 or so at bats. 1 for his last 26.
  3. He might as well try to get 40 bombs by seasons end now.
  4. Jb was hitless his last 3 games. That was hit hard but still a gift double.
  5. This is exactly why he is a four.
  6. Mookie's the man. Easily my favorite young sox player. Dude hasn't dissapointed yet.
  7. Hahahahaha yup. All his fault.
  8. He just tied himself with pujols for most doubles among active players.
  9. I agree. On top of that, Dombrowski did express in a press conference last month that he covets power arms. This makes me think there is no way erod wouldn't start for the sox next year to start the season.
  10. Chilli davis did infact confirm a couple days ago that hanley is in fact swinging out of his ass too much. If he does stay here, hopefully he will lstop trying to hit 500 foot hrs every time he's up. I do think he can come back and become a good hitter again though.
  11. He's got 9 hrs this month. Thats how many hrs hanley has hit since May 1st. He has absolutelt mashed the ball post all start break.
  12. I agree with you. In an mlb average rotation, he is a 4. He is doing similar to what dempster did for them in 2013. His 6.5 mil aav isn't bad either. You can do worse than Miley,
  13. Thats why he has 4.57 era. He's good at times but not good consistently. He is 74th out of 89 qualified pitchers for a reason. He's not un startable, yet he's certainly nothing special.
  14. All those line drives finally caught up to him.
  15. My god is miley getting helped by this strike zone.
  16. That is a terrible strike zone.
  17. Wade got wacked that inning. Good thing he limited it to 1.
  18. I do agree with you that there was no reason to expect he wouldn't at minimum be his mediocre self, but they certainly didn't pay him to be that. I have read that it is fair to pay about 7 million dollars per win of war, but you can get pitchers to pitch mediocre for much cheaper. They got Miley for only an aav of 6.5 mill, which isn't bad at all for what he has done and is a great deal if you compare it to procello. In addition, a number of our young pitchers could be mediocre mid four pitchers as well. Again, I didn't have a problem with them trading for procello before the season, but I had a big problem giving him that size of contract before he did anything for the sox.
  19. Mookie has been really impressive so far in his carewr. He hit very nicely in his 50 or so games last year and overcame a couple of down first two months this year to have a very respectable hitting year thus year, especially for a 22 year old. He can play a good center field and do a little bit of everything else. Only thing he really has to do now is get his obp up. He, unlike some of our other prospects, hasn't had a s*** year up in the bigs.
  20. Indeed he does. For his contract, he should be doing more. They are paying Miley 6 and a half a year aav, which isn't bad at all for someone mediocre like Miley. But the minimum that would be acceptable for porcello is to do what Miley has done.
  21. War can be a misleading stat for a pitcher like porcello. First of all, it relies on fip. According to fangraphs, the formula they use to calculate it is ((13xhr) + 3x(bb + hbp) - 2k)/IP + the fip constant. The thing overrates walks, underrates strikeouts, and doesn't even consider the amount of hard contact the pitcher gives up. Because he doesn't give up a lot of walks, he is saved. A lot of the times, his fip and era are quite different from each other and for his career , they are off by nearly half a run. If you look at all of the truly great pitchers and look at their career fips vs eras, they come out pretty close to each other. Rick Porcello is a mediocre pitcher who is saved by fip. Even Verlander and Scherzer, who pitched infront of the same defense as Porcello, have career era and fips that are .18 and .8 away from each other.
  22. Familia's got a legitimate 95 mph splitter? How the hell is anyone suppose to hit that? That's filthy.
  23. The problem with porcello wasn't trading for him for this year. It was giving him a a 4 yr, $80+ million dollar extension before he even threw a pitch for the red sox. For a guy who has been mediocre for the large majority of his career except for one year in which he was solid, thats a big risk. Since the sox obviously thought that he turned a corner in 2014 and was going to become a solid, above average pitcher as he moved into his prime years, they decided to try to lock him up very early. The sox were projecting that his mediocrity stopped during the 2014 and that he would not regress. You can't even compare a Kershaw situation with Porcello because Kershaw's track record is far more impressive than Porcello's .
