  1. Yup. I can see why they were reluctant to bring him up. He doesn't have big league stuff at all right now.
  2. Rusney just scares the hell out of me. He hasn't had much solid contact in his first 21 at bats. He has been swining through pitches and hitting a ton of weak grounders. I know its only 21 at bats and I would be ok with this start if he raked in cuba. But since he didn't I'm very scared. If Cespedes had a better average in cuba and way more power and he has turned into a .260 hitter who can hit you around 25 hrs, this guy could legitimately be a .240 hitter. I hope he pans out but I am scared he will flop.
  3. My thoughts exactly.
  4. Decides to make a game thread just to say how unimpressed I have been with Rusney over his first 10 at bats. Not a lot of hard contact and his discipline hasn't been so good. But its only 10 at bats.
  5. Peavy has turned around his season after leaving here. He's brought bis era under 4 and has 2.29 era in 9 starts with san francisco. Thanks a lot for not doing that here peavy...
  6. He is a tremendous second basemen. However, the sox didn't give him that contract just so he could be an average hitter who could field. As a 2/3 hitter, if he can give the sox what he did in 2013 again, thats fine. He doesn't have to have an ops up and over 800. If he can have an ops in the high 700's, an obp up around .370, a .290 ba and 35 doubles, I'll have no complaints. As for moving him down in the lineup to 6th or 7th if he doesn't produce, I am okay with that.
  7. Pedroia has to rebound next year after being just an average major league hitter this year. (His ops plus was 101). While his ops will be on the lower side because of his lack of hrs, a sub .280 batting average and an obp in the 330's isn't acceptable. His hand should be healed up fine by the time april comes around so we will see if being healthy can turn around the ops decline he has had the last 3 seasons.
  8. Its too early to call ranaudo a bust cause this is only his fifth start but his stuff has been very unimpressive. But Webster has been wildly disappointing.
  9. Exactly. It really isn't.
  10. Ranaudo looks like brandon workman 2.0. They look similar and have a similar fastball and curveball. I was hoping he would be better than this. I guess his stuff was good enough to dominate the lower levels but not here. Hopefully he can finish strong. The thing with him is he isn't young as he just turned 25 today.
  11. Brock Holt's Magic has been gone since the all star break. He has been pretty dreadful since the break ended. .219 average, .549 slugging, and a dreadful .278 on base percentage (certainly not lead off worthy). Unless his numbers take an up turn in these remaining games, there is no question that he should start the season out of the starting lineup and just be the super utility guy. He had a great run from may to mid July, but essentially his last 200 at bats he has been terrible.
  12. The sox should just shut him down. I'm sure he is tired and an extra month off wouldn't hurt him.
  13. I agree with you completely. We shouldn't trash him yet but we have to have a different one
  14. Not to mention that he only has 2 pitches.
  15. Yup. Hes not fooling anybody like he was last year either
  16. Good point. Since that angels series at fenway, its been a sharp decline.
  17. Wow that splitter is gone. f*** the yankees.
  18. His splitter has turned to s***. Koji is blowing saves left and right now. If it is indeed the end of his run, I'm ok with it. He had a magical year the first half this year and last year.
  19. I don't know why they expanded the staff to 6 just to fit him in. I want to see the guys who are actually fighting for a spot next year get as many starts as possible.
  20. I didn't think papi would have had a chance at getting to 500 hrs next year since he needed to hit 69 in two years. I thought his average was going to be around 280 this year with high 20's hr but he continues to amaze as he has actually had mor pop than last year.
  21. Speaking of pythagorean win expectancy, I think the 2012 Orioles were like 11 games better than expected or something crazy like that.
  22. Thats true right there. Jackie's value went plummeting ridiculously far and so did Will's. Xander's took a hit but not as much as those two. Only thing will has is that for about a half of a season he was a very good player in 2012. Jackie has not shown at all that he can hit up here except for that small stretch in july.
  23. Its been a real awful season for WMB. He went from looking like our next possible 30 hr 100 rbi guy after 2012, to someone who can't hit for average but could still run into 25 plus hrs in a full season after 2012, to unbelievably unproductive in 2014. I know he has had a series of injuries the past couple of seasons, but he is going to be 26 next week. This last month is huge for him. If he doesn't show some progress, he really leaves the red sox no other option but to ship him away( and sadly, he wouldn't even be viewed as a key guy in a deal).
  24. I agree with not taking pedey off of second. I worry about mookie's arm at third base. His arm seems pretty weak and I don't know if he could handle the throw from third to first. Its amazing though how mookie has skyrocketed to being the number 13 prospect in baseball according to mlb prospect watch. They rate him as having a below average arm but if it is just good enough to play third, I am all for him playing there.
  25. Very true with castillo. We have been shown zero proof that he will be anything great. His Cuba stats weren't nearly as good as hia defected counterparts , he hasn't even taken a swing at the mlb level. and he hasn't played pro baseball in over a year. As for betts, I agree with you unless we can use him to get chris sale.
