  1. 5-1. Great. Well this game is over. We just cannot allow 5 or 6 runs against this popgun offense.
  2. Kapsis, there are many successful pitchers who rely on location rather than velocity. I also believe that there is more room for error when you throw hard, but its far from a prerequisite for success as a pitcher. I would take a guy with command over a guy who throws hard with no command any day.
  3. Thats absurd. You really think its sad that some of us who doubted Cook now look at how he has done and have changed our minds? What would truly be sad is if we looked at his stats and continued to opine that he doesn't deserve a shot in the rotation or at least on the roster. Situations change. You cannot get stuck in the mud by stubbornly ignoring the facts.
  4. Ugly win, but I'll take it. Gotta do something with Cook by tomorrow, and it should involve Bucky going down to the DL. Off to walk the dog.
  5. Alright. I get it. No more comments about Bard in the rotation unless someone starts it first: http://i1119.photobucket.com/albums/k632/stevebaslow/beatdeadhorse.gif
  6. :dunno: Guess I am frustrated that the FO is not making the move that I consider an obvious way to improve the team.
  7. DiceK deserves a shot; so does Cook, based on his stats. Either of those guys is likely to be better than LackeyWakefieldMillerWeiland. Bard fortifying the pen sounds good to me.
  8. You are probably right. It didn't look good though. It looked unprofessional.
  9. Daniel Bard's 2011 stats, April 1-Sept 1: ERA: 1.49 BAA: .151 OPSa: .463 Think our bullpen could use a guy like that?
  10. Really. So Bard is in charge now? I sure hope not. And BTW: Valentine should talk to Bucky about showing him up tonite when he came out to get him.
  11. I completely understand that there are other opinions among knowledgable baseball fans. I don't agree with that opinion, obviously. Our bullpen needs more help that our starting rotation, and there is only one Daniel Bard.
  12. I know its not going to happen. Many of the Boston beat writers have also been calling for that move for a long time...Mazz, Cafardo etc. Its a testament to the stupidity or our FO IMO.
  13. We have an arm. He is named Daniel Bard.
  14. This is not ALL on the bullpen. Some of it belongs to Punto.
  15. Atchison will walk the bases loaded
  16. Nope. Just looked at his stats and read the press on him. I don't watch minor league games.
  17. Two on and no one out for the Yankees...I mean A's. We could easily blow this 10 run lead too.
  18. Base hit. This bullpen is still aweful.
  19. I am not certain about Cook other than believing that he deserves a chance. We already know what Bucky can do. Personally, I think Bard should be in the pen and Cook given a shot at SP.
  20. That would be funny if it wasn't true.
  21. Glad that inning is over. Bottom line take home message: Buchholz is not ready to pitch in the majors. Cook is.
