There is no easy solution when you just don't have the overall quality in the pitching staff. I prefer Bard there, but could live with someone else. Not Aceves.

For today, I think that would have been the best move, yes. They still need a closer who can do the job if they hope to do anything at all this year.

I think your line of reasoning only works if you are looking at this as a lost year and planning only for the future. There are lots of other options for our #5 SP. We don't have any options right now for closer other than Bard. Who else is there, really? There is no easy solution. We simply don't have enough quality pitching. You pick your poison here.

I think its inevitable too. You just have to wonder how many games our bullpen has to blow before it comes to pass.

We have other options for our #4-5 SP. We don't have anyone else who can close games. Where he should be is a matter of opinion. Last I checked most of those who voted in the poll favored Bard being the closer. More than likely had he been named closer we would already have won this game.

Its on the FO because they apparently promised Bard a SP role. He should have been the closer when Bailey went down.

Aceves is no closer. Bard should be the closer. Period. Lots of very bad moves by our FO and by Valentine. Should have brought Padilla back out there; should have PH for Shoppach. This loss is on the FO and on Valentine.

One of the writers should ask Valentine why no PH there after this one is over. It might be interesting to hear his reasoning. I have no idea what he is thinking there. Shoppach cannot hit. We didn't get him for his offensive prowess.
