It won't matter. Upgrading our pitching staff is a multiyear task. The pitching has sucked for years. And we still have too many mediocre buffoons on the roster. Their contracts have to expire and then they have to be good at choosing replacements, something Cherington's predecessor was quite poor at doing. Getting one good pitcher is not going to significantly improve our team ERA.
Yeah, I watched them play a few weeks ago.
Not completely over, obviously, but its gonna be tough. Hard to win games when you have to score 10 runs or more to do it.
At least the Rays are down 7-0 tonite. Won't lose a game to them. Still, pretty pathetic pitching performance tonite. This problem isn't getting fixed this year.
Whatever it is, they probably know the diagnosis by now anyway. Endoscopies and biopsies do not take four days to come back. Nor do cultures. The delay in letting the fans know is concerning.
It was just a matter of time with Doubront tonite. Leave him in the game and he was bound to surrender more runs. Seven runs surrendered. Pathetic. Gonna be tough to win this game now.
Maybe the Guardians will come back from six runs down against the Yankees tonite...
IBD is hardly benign. Its a miserable disease to have. I had many patients with it. Its a life changer. I can't see how anyone can be a ML pitcher with that. For his sake I hope its less serious than that, but that certainly one of the top choices given what we know. Salmonella or Shigella could do it too I suppose. Or an ulcer. All of those would be preferable.
