  1. His ERA since April 25 is 1.83. Got off to a very bad start, but has been lights out since. Gag....good pickup by our FO.
  2. Padilla does the job. Gotta wonder how he would have done this year as a starter in place of Bard.
  3. No one is saying its meaningless. All I am saying is that its overrated. Mostly its been our position players that have been injured with the exception of Bailey, and we are still second in runs scored. Not real sure that Crawford and Ellsbury would be producing more than the subs (except McDime, who stinks). Our SP have been relatively healthy but we are still 12th in the AL in ERA. Of course we would have won more games with all our guys healthy, or even at league average for days on the DL; but IMO not that many more games.
  4. Exactly. More runs would have been nice. You just cannot run yourself into outs as often as we do. Not smart baseball.
  5. Fair enough. You are entitled to hold that opinion. I don't share it. I think they all count, for all pitchers. Its also a reasonable arguement to argue that his WHIP or ERA+ has value too. I do not think he is an ace at all...more like a #2-3 SP.
  6. The injury excuse is nonsense. All teams have injuries. It is what it is. We are as good as our record says we are. Period.
  7. Ninth. Same denominator. I think his ERA takes precidence. And Salty ties the game...FINALLY A RUN!
  8. They all count. He is a mediocre SP on a mediocre team with terrible pitching.
  9. Mowed down by a bunch of also-ran Jays pitchers. Not a pretty sight.
  10. Thats not saying much. He ranks 26th of 58 among AL pitcher with at least 60 IP. Thats middle of the pack...for our supposed ace. He is part of the problem. If he were our #3 SP he would be fine.
  11. Mediocre teams play mediocre baseball. They have some winning streaks and some losing streaks, always, by definition, ending up near .500. Sound familiar? This is a very mediocre team.
  12. McDonald should NEVER play; we need Nava out there. Lillibridge should not be playing either.
  13. You have got to be kidding...no runs in five innings against Cy Laffey? Moribund.
  14. First, I have no idea if Bard is reparable or not. My own opinion, my LAYMAN'S opinion, is that he will never regain his former level of effectiveness. There are opinions, and then there are educated opinions. Fred has had extensive experience in managing real baseball players. I have not. Have you? Just as I would hope that you would value my experience as a doctor when I offer a medical opinion (not that its always right), I would hope that you would value Fred's opinion more than a layman's opinion because of HIS experience in the field. I know I do.
  15. You have more faith in our FO than I do. I don't think DiceK is going anywhere this season. As for Morales, he has had what-3 good starts? He does look good, but its a small sample size. It earns him a shot in the rotation, not a spot there. And if he fails after DiceK is gone we are down a SP (if you call DiceK a SP). Tough call.
  16. No, its just that everyone would notice that you have no clothes.
  17. In place of who? Who leaves if Morales pitches well? Do you think the FO has the guts to jettison DiceK? He would make a really crappy bullpen addition, what with the walks and the first inning jitters.
  18. Morales turning out to be a stellar front line pitcher would be a nightmare for Jacko, eh?
