  1. Actually, the Red Sox are not a great HR hitting club this year. They rank sixth. They rank second in BA and OBP. Theoretically they should be able to handle a park like this. Lots of hard hit ball, but nothing to show for it. Right at people or dying in the OF.
  2. Gotta admit that this game time is not good for me at all..too much going on here in the evening. Cook doing well....can we PLEASE get some runs?
  3. What's Noesi's BABIP for tonite? Pretty low, eh? That means he ought to revert to the norm and we should get the 6-7 runs we need to have a chance to win. Lets see how that works out.
  4. I think we will score a couple (2) of runs
  5. Seems like there is plenty of empty seats for anyone who wants to catch the games up there. And Seattle is not a bad city.....if it would just stop raining.
  6. 13 pitches and six outs for Cook. Lets all bend over and give credit to Theo for acquiring this budding ace.
  7. 14-7 in NY. TOOOOOOOOOOO BAAAAAAAAAAAD
  8. Did you forget a decimal point?
  9. 13-7 Pale Hose now. Yankees have real SP problems now
  10. Q:What is 5.08, 6.03 and 9.39? A: Aaron Cook's ERAs for the last three seasons
  11. Yup. Six or seven. Not because of the Mariners offense (they ARE a professional club) but because Cooke stinks badly.
  12. Sure would be nice to get a few runs early. With Cooke out there we are going to need about 6-7 runs to hope to win this
  13. Beating whoever replaces Petitte..............
  14. Theo gets all the credit he deserves, both good and bad. If Morales and Miller turn out to be great players I will be first in line to credit the guy who brought them here. The jury is still out on them. Nava is a career minor leaguer who is currently doing well. Enjoy it. History tells us that he will soon return to earth. Those other guys have barely sniffed the majors. I am not ready to give Epstein credit for any of those guys because they have proven nothing so far.
  15. It is a matter of math, I agree. How many more runs per game do you think that the return of Ellsbury and Crawford are going to produce? Don't forget that one of them is going to replace Nava, who has exceled. Do you think that either Ellsbury or Crawford will do better than .313/.902? And once both of them are playing again Ross and Sweeney will likely platoon in RF, so we lose some of Ross's production when Sweeney plays (.278/.915 vs Sweeney's .292/.733) Don't think that Sweeney will just sit on the bench, nor will whoever our 5th OF. There may be more runs scored; maybe not. I suspect we will get a few more, sure, but not many. On the other hand we are still stuck with mediocrity with Beckett, Lester, Buchholtz and less than mediocrity with DiceK and Doubront. An ace pitcher would make a real difference in our chances, but not Ellsbury and Crawford.
  16. The key is that none of the injured players is an ace SP. These guys are not going to come into town on a white horse to save the day. Oh sure, we will score a few more runs, but last I checked scoring runs wasn't much of a problem, overall, for this team. We are second in runs scored in the AL. If we were rehabbing Halladay or Sabathia or Hernandez then I would be having much higher expectations for the team once the injured players return. Instead, we are still going to be left with the same mediocre heap of #3 SP that we have accumulated along with a few lower tier SP. I am not expecting any sea change in how this team plays.
  17. All the other ALE teams lost tonite. This would be a great game to win. Hernandez is tough....
  18. Pretty funny. Gotta keep in mind Jacko's function here: in every way possible get under the skin of and attempt to demoralize Red Sox fans across the country and beyond. However, in order for us to accept that kind of agitation, it will cost the Yankees Sanchez, Banuelos, and Betances being sent to the Sox.
  19. I don't understand why thats a bad thing...all the runs count. They are fourth in runs scored, second in OBP and OPS. They mash, unfortunately.
