  1. My guess is that for enough money Alonso would play wherever you told him to play. Regardless...Schwarber was also a FA. And other players were available by trade. The fact is that we needed help offensively and Breslow failed.
  2. I’ll help. When he plays Yoshida most often is the DH. If we got rid of him over the winter and signed Alonso to DH we would have a better team. That’s really not debatable.
  3. Where does Yoshida usually fit into the lineup when he plays nowadays?
  4. Alonso has better stats than Yoshida. He would have made a fine DH. He is a 5 time all star.
  5. Correct Alonso would have been a better choice for DH than Yoshida. And yes-Breslow should be fired for not signing the players necessary to compete for a ring. Essentially we have wasted a year of being competitive. We can’t afford to do that
  6. Schwarber would have costed just a little more. But somehow I think our BILLIONAIRE owner could have afforded it. He chose not to.
  7. Alonso is at .812/127. Five time all star. Which player would you rather have?
  8. Correct. It’s not just a matter of spending. You have to spend wisely too. Is that too much to ask of Breslow?
  9. One could also argue that if we had Crochet and Anthony plus Alonso or Schwarber we would be the odds on favorite in the east.
  10. So you knew that Anthony would get hurt over the winter? That’s when Alonso was available.
  11. Correct. They do all those things well and as a result have a juggernaut. Why can’t we do it too?
  12. I think we should have signed Contreras, Suarez, Durbin (admittedly I changed my mind about him), AND Alonso or Schwarber. Letting Bregman go was fine. Get rid of Yoshida (yes, he’s done ok lately but based on his track record he should have been dumped over the winter).
  13. I just did. Henry is cheap in that he should be spending more money based on the income of his investment-unless he is lying about prioritizing winning of course. Could he be lying?
  14. It was never a matter of Contreras OR Alonso (or Schwarber). We could have had both (Contreras and Alonso or Schwarber).
  15. I’ll come back to the teams spending as a percentage of revenue on salaries. 23rd
  16. He does seem to be doing just fine. But over the winter it looked like he could use help behind him. Did you know he would have a career year?
  17. If you’re trying to build a team that contends for a ring you NEED the right players. If you’re content with a one and done in the playoffs you need just the basics
