  1. As I wrote elsewhere, Cora didn't have his team ready to start the season. It shows. Its obviously very early, but they are digging a hole for themselves.
  2. The Rays will be a thorn, but they cannot compete for the division-not with their budget and their fan base. It will be the Sox and the Yankees again.
  3. Cora said he had "good stuff" when OB interviewed him. Really?
  4. It was a stupid strategy IMO.....last year was last year. If you don't give your SPs a chance to pitch in ST then the regular season becomes an extension of ST, except its against ML hitters. This was totally predictable. I think they will come around, but this slow start was avoidable and predictable.
  5. Yep. Sale threw only nine innings. So you tell me: were they ready to start the season? Cora blew it. You can't get ready throwing nine innings.
  6. OK..outta here. This team wasn't ready to start playing, and for that I blame Cora. He screwed up ST and the team entered the season with no momentum. Bad strategy on Cora's part.
  7. Lost it in the sun....hard to blame him for that.
  8. Porcello gives it up.....this staff sucks
  9. Here we go again.....uggh
  10. Yankees already down 3-0. J Happ is getting knocked around.
  11. 13 pitches quick enough?
  12. There we go......finally
  13. Gotta get at least one more run here.
  14. I agree. Its really getting old watching our SPs groove the ball to guys who don't hit many HRs.
  15. Sox are grooving the ball. You can't hit good pitches like they M's are smoking it. Just like ST.
  16. Feel free to disagree. However, since no one appointed you judge over what constitutes a "real fan" I will give your opinion the weight it is worth, which isn't much.
  17. You know what? NOTHING should "concern" any Sox fan this year. We will be competitive. We will also likely make the playoffs. But after three consecutive years of sustained excellence (including three consecutive ALE titles and a ring) there is no reason for any Red Sox fan to worry about what may or may not happen this year. No team has an exclusive on sustained excellence (besides the Patriots, I guess). I am giving this year's team a pass.
  18. Not sure where we would find that information but if we can locate it, you are on!
  19. Perhaps we can make a gentleman's wager about Sale's velocity. I say he will be hitting 95+ consistently by the time June or July rolls around. What say you?
  20. Tell you what: I would rather lose this way than the way we lost the first game last year. In case anyone forgot we were up 4-0 going into the bottom of the eighth when the Rays scored six times. The forgettable Carson Smith was the losing pitcher. I would rather have the snot beat out of us than lose that way.
  21. I am more concerned about how the team looked in ST than who our opponents are or where we play. I do not think that any team can just turn it on and turn it off. The team had an overall poor ST and I would expect some carryover. Of course no one should be writing off the season if they start poorly in March. I would be very happy if we managed to play our home opener with a .500 or better record. But its going to be tough.......
  22. BMI isn't perfect, for sure. For muscular athletes like basketball players or hockey players it doesn't work well as it fails to take into account the increased muscle mass present in those athletes. However, Leon is not exactly muscular, is he. Many baseball players are obese and its beyond my understanding why they are allowed to maintain that condition given the money they are making. I get that some players can still perform even though they are far overweight, but it does make them more susceptible to injury and poor performance. I don't think thats debatable.
  23. My comment was in reference to Moon's claim that there is something to the fact that 2-3 SPs might not like Swihart catching them (he said Sale has 0 games with Swihart and Price has 48 PAs. As I said, Sale has never actually pitched to Swihart. Lets see if he complains about it when Swi catches him....my guess is that he really doesn't care. Again, you are missing the whole point: the fact that pitchers are comfortable with Leon (we can stipulate that we agree on that) does not exclude the possibility that they are also comfortable with Swihart, or will be. Unless of course you have proof to the contrary......
