    We such because NOT ONLY has Henry turned cheapskate but also because our farm system has not produced any pitchers of note (aside from Bello) for years. Can't win without good pitching. Its going to be another stinker of a year and the worst part is that there is no end in sight.

    And on January 8 every other ALE team is better than us. I recognize the fact that its not a finished product but clearly we are not off to a good start in terms of acquiring the kind of talent we need to compete in our division.

    As the team is now constructed every other ALE team is better than we are. Henry may have already given up on this season.

    One guy is not "the management". Obviously he didn't get the job done without the rest of his Tampa management team to help him out.

    Yamamoto has the pedigree to be a top line SP. We were never even in on him. Snell would certainly be an improvement over what we now have. Lets see if we can snag him or if Henry will continue to tight wad the team.

    Tampa obviously has much better management than we do, don't they. We can't afford to go into the season on the cheap because our management sucks. How many good SPs do we have in the pipeline? If they aren't there then to avoid yet another last place finish (because right now every team in the division is better than we are) Henry is going to have to open his wallet and fortify our SP.

    The best way to improve the overall SP is to start at the top, not dumpster dive for a #4 who might work out. Getting a top flight SP moves the entire chain down a notch in terms of expectations. As far as I can tell the best remaining SP is Montgomery-a decent SP but not an ace. Two last place finishes in a row and a third likely should cause the fans to vote with their feet.

    True enough, but our most pressing need is a #1SP. Who is left out there on the FA market who could fill that role?

    Nope. Not every time. But spending on players in order to make the team competitive is more likely to be successful than the cheap route that Henry is obviously taking. Two last place finishes in a row and likely another one in 2024.....is that acceptable to you? This is not a small market team. It doesn't need a small market budget-but thats likely what we are getting.

    Maybe not, but it certainly hasn't worked out over the last few years, has it. And by all indications this year is shaping up to be yet another stinker. Who exactly is the "ace" of our staff now-the SP who can reliably put an end to losing streaks? The only language Henry is going to understand is empty seats at the park.

    I think he IS telling the fans what the plan is: tighten spending. You can build a good team on a tight budget but its a lot harder. Its easy to spend Henry's money, isn't it. Time for him to sell the team.

    Didn't say it NEVER happens. We went from last to first too. Are you expecting it for next year?

    A relevant team (ie a playoff team) isn't likely us next year. Its very rare to go from a last place stinker to competing for a ring. Its going to take at least a couple of years to construct a team that is a serious contender for a ring. I would settle for a decent team next year, one worth watching. Low expectations....

    RIP Tim Wakefield. A true gentleman. But that’s on another thread. Rest in agony for the bums that make up most of the players, management, and ownership that comprise this awful team.

    He could be a good #5 SP on a team with a decent rotation. Basically right now we have Bello and four days of hoping for rain. Chris Frail will find some other injury next year. Besides that we got crap SPs.

    Game over Just one more brainless effort tomorrow then hope for Cleveland and Detroit to split. One more hold your nose year then they better be competitive or the call will go out for Henry to sell the team.

    He wants to end the game ASAP and go home. Can’t blame him.

    Go O’s! Sox need to lose the last two and hope for a Tigers-Guardians split. This team sucks. Henry owes the fans an apology. If he can’t produce a competitive team by 2025 he needs to sell it. We couldn’t even finish ahead of a bad Yankee team. Just pathetic. The only good news is that it will all be over for the Flops tomorrow.

    Sorry That’s bs. When the team is playing well I single out individual players or plays made that stand out. I have already singled out the few bright spots on this team. But overall this year not only have they lacked talent but they have also lacked focus and have made way too many brain dead mistakes. Now they have obviously quit on the fans, barely showing up to go through the motions most of the time. I call them as I see them and this year, while there have been a few bright spots like Martin and Bello, most of these guys have played like bums.
