Right now our current 1Bman, Romy Gonzales is batting with an OPS of .809, so its all good. But his career OPS is under .700. Being forced to play him at 1B instead of someone who is a proven offensive star because that star player refuses to put the team first isn't how to develop a winning culture. Devers playing 1B would no doubt be a learning experience for him but others have made the switch from 3B to 1B. When Bregman returns our best lineup has Bregman at 3B and Devers at 1B and whoever needs a day off at DH-except that Devers is a selfish child who apparently thinks he can tell the manager where he is going to play.

Of course not. Devers made it quite clear that he wasn’t going to do it.

Well too bad. The situation changed. Management had to change their opinion and Devers should still do the best he can wherever they put him.

At this point in the season it doesn’t matter. They aren’t playing October baseball anyway. It’s about setting the culture for the team going forward.

I remember when I was working and there was a need for a pediatrician at a different location-about 30 more minutes away from where I then worked. I told them I’d rather not transfer. They said if you don’t transfer find a new job.

Didn’t realize that. So Devers defied his GM. I wouldn’t mind assigning him either 1B or a seat on the bench.

I think Cora has done a decent job but since something has to change and you can’t fire all the players Cora should take it on the chin

I don’t care what Devers wants. He gets paid to do whatever his manager thinks is best for the team.

Because the best IF offensively has Bregman at 3B and Devers at 1B. It’s a TEAM sport. Devers is in it for himself.

I’m disappointed that the season was over before June started. I’m disappointed that they lead the league in errors for the fourth year in a row. I’m disappointed that Cora is still here and that they haven’t told Devers that he’s playing 1B or he’s sitting on the bench. Anything else?

Toro and Narvaez have been real finds-unexpectedly good. We’ll see if they can produce over the rest of the season. The real problem is obviously SPing.

Crochet isn’t pitching tonight. A bum is on the mound and the Yankees have a real pitcher out there tonight It’s over. We might score a run or two but we will never catch up.
