  1. You must mean it’s a good thing YOU can’t watch it. You very much need my commentary. And you know it
  2. I think the players are going to be pretty angry that management failed to give them the boost they needed to make a serious run in October. It’s a slap in the face and it must be pretty demoralizing. Flops lose at least 2 of 3 vs the Astros.
  3. That’s very likely to happen. Look for a major swoon this month. That’s not a bad thing. Since we won’t be playing ball in October we do need to improve our position in the next draft.
  4. Yes, there were a lot of excuses made by Breslow in the media today about how “hard we tried but couldn’t match up”…..weep weep weee..p. I have no sympathy for an incompetent GM nor for a cheapskate owner who happens to be a multibillionaire. It’s their JOB to get the deals done and they failed miserably AGAIN. The team needed a couple of steaks to be able to make noise in October and they were given Cheetoes. Better to have been sellers and plan to be competitive in a couple of years. All the other teams in the playoff hunt improved significantly and Breslow played the fiddle. Your mindless optimism is noted however, and dismissed.
  5. I think you underestimate Red Sox fans. They know that we lack the talent this year to make a good Oct run unless we get a significant infusion of players that fill our needs. I would have applauded being a seller and tanking for draft picks-that will likely happen now anyway. There will always be bonnetheads whose baseless optimism and mindless support of the losers currently infesting the roster clouding reality, but most Sox fans know the truth about this year's team: not good enough.
  6. This makes two years of sitting on the fence. That is absolutely NOT the way to manage a team. You make your decision to go all in and give your team the players it needs to make the playoffs (after which anything can happen) OR you sell. Sitting on the fence is more of the same, and its BS.
  7. The players knew what the team needed: a good RH bat to play 1B, a good SP to work as our #2, and a backup catcher to replace Wong, who has been awful. I remember reading comments in years past from the players saying the same thing: "we knew what we needed and management didn't come through". Its a slap in the face and it tells the players that management doesn't have the confidence that its worth supporting this team with the players it needs to make a deep Oct run. I think you'll see a pronounced summer swoon now.
  8. The message this sends to the players is clear: "we do not believe in you enough to provide you with the additional help you need to make a run at a ring". It has to be demoralizing so I expect that many will give up to an extent and the tanking I wanted before the deadline will take place naturally now. Henry has to sell the team....its the only way.
  9. Didn’t see the espn analysis that concluded that one of the losers in the trade deadline was the Flops who again sat on the fence. You must really like what they’ve done over the past several years because you’re going to get the same thing this year and next. Horrible decision making….
  10. Oh-so you “emphatically” disagree!! Well that settles it! I guess you’re happy with the last few years of last place or .500 finishes. You’d be better off listening to me than the cheapskate owners and incompetent GM. While our competition all improved we did basically nothing. The FLOPS will again be at home watching playoff games this year with you and me! Read the ESPN analysis of the winners and losers of these trades. How do you think they rate the FLOPS moves?
  11. I was right about this. And when we don’t make the playoffs AGAIN this year you will believe. And get a new bonnet. Yours is very very worn.
  12. Did you know that every one of the contenders for the AL pennant significantly improved their roster except us? Notice that. We got two mediocre pitchers in exchange for two minor league second tier players who were never going to see Fenway. They either should have gone all in or, preferably, been sellers. They did neither. And btw, they are middle third in overall payroll this year. In case you forgot this is a BIG MARKET team. Henry forgot that.
  13. We don’t know the conditions that were placed on Breslow by ownership so we’re just guessing. Mine is that Henry told him to reduce or at least not increase costs given the talent level on the team-or lack thereof-and plan for the future. Unfortunately Breslow seems to have forgotten the second part and did try to sell players of value. Two years in a row of this crap. At least we didn’t have to put up with the “full throttle” blatant lie again this year.
  14. That bonnet is getting a little worn Max, wouldn't you say?
  15. I agree. I think Breslow did exactly what he was told to do. But if he had any integrity and really wanted to make a contender out of these bums in a couple of years he would have resigned.
  16. The Bs are in full rebuilding mode. They will likely suck this year. The Celtics will probably be very mediocre because they had to trade Porzingis and Holliday and Tatum is out for the year. They had a great run and brought home banner #18. I think the Patriots will actually be competitive this year and at the very least entertaining. At least they’re doing the right things, unlike the Flops.
  17. I believe that as of now they are favored in 11 of the 17 games. That could put them in the playoffs. They obviously aren’t Superbowl contenders yet but it’s a huge improvement. Not sure how closely you follow the team but they had a good draft, signed Stephan Diggs, a premier receiver, Joe Milton who is an excellent defensive lineman to a huge contract and a lot more. They will likely be very entertaining this year. I am not totally down on the Sox’ future. This year, yes. I don’t think they will make the playoffs. But if they get rid of Breslow and Cora and do well this offseason and next they could be very tough to beat. That said there’s no excuse for their performance the past 4-5 years.
  18. Nah. He’d make an excellent late inning defensive replacement.
  19. I don’t think they’re selling out every game anymore. That’s a start. The good news is that the Patriots start their season tomorrow. First preseason game. They made a lot of improvements and have the weakest schedule in the league. I think they’ll be much better than past years.
  20. I’d do it. I couldn’t do any worse than Breslow.
  21. Basically, to sum it up, the FLOPS did nothing significant again this year, being neither buyers nor sellers, while the competition significantly improved. Those are the facts and it just confirms what I thought the franchise has degraded into. I hope the fans boycott the part in protest. It was time to s*** or get off the pot and all they did was keep sitting.
  22. 2026 or 2027, yes. They clearly played it dumb strategically. Now tanking won't even help much because the guys they draft won't be ready for years. I said a while ago I thought they needed to tear it all down starting at the top with the owner if they want to compete for a ring again. I haven't changed my mind.
  23. As well he shouldn't. But he should have sold off some players, like Chapman. who is what-37 now? Wonder what he would have brought here in return.
