  1. Hopefully surgery will fix the problem. By no means is that guaranteed
  2. Let’s reassess whether he sufficiently improved the team after the regular season is over. He absolutely failed to significantly improve it at the trade deadline. The Flops have a history of failure as the summer moves on. If they manage to hold on to a playoff spot then I’ll agree he improved the team. If they manage to win the AL pennant then I’ll agree that he has sufficiently improved the team. As of right now the team and their incompetent GM have accomplished zilch.
  3. Correct. Not to the degree I wanted. Not after years of last place or mediocre finishes.
  4. If the team won for example 78 games last year and 80 games this year he could be said to have improved the team. But I wouldn’t call that a success. You either go for it or your sellers. As Yoda says, “do or do not; there is no try”. Breslow failed.
  5. He was hired to improve the team and failed. If he won’t resign he should be fired. Instead of making a choice about being buyers or sellers he again chose to do nothing. Fans deserve better. He needs to go, one way or the other.
  6. Breslows job is to improve the team. He failed to do so. If Henry forced his hand then he should have the integrity to resign.
  7. The only thing we know for sure is that Breslow didn't get the job done-the job he was hired to do. Thats the bottom line.
  8. No to Anthony. He is off limits. It is Breslow's JOB to get deals done and he didn't do it. According to what I read he didn't even try real hard.
  9. I agree-the offseason will be interesting. But I’m tired of waiting until the offseason. The time to try to compete is now and Breslow again sat on the fence between being buyers and sellers, followed by the usual litany of excuses as to why he didn’t do his job. If this team is as good as many here think it is then why not go all in? Yet here we are. Hopefully the M&Ms perform.
  10. Ryan or the equivalent. I don’t keep track of defensive metrics but with Narvaez, Bregman, Story, and Rafaela we are pretty solid by the eye test. I’m sure there is room for improvement in the other positions. This offseason the team has the prospects and the money to build a very good team if you look at where we are now. Just missing a few pieces. Let’s hope they don’t screw it up. Im available to help them. I texted Breslow my number.
  11. Add Ryan and we would likely be set for several years. How long is Giolito signed for? We have position players. Pitchers, not so much. Our bullpen is better than pretty good. Best in the AL. Our defense is also good. Pitching and defense wins rings, generally. Adding Ryan would have put us in very good shape
  12. One position the Red Sox haven’t really done a good job at developing is pitching. Ryan has two more years of team control. Having a rotation that includes Crochet, Ryan, and Bello as anchors is an excellent start to maintaining a winning team. Of course he would have been expensive but we do have a better chance of developing position players than pitching. I think we have maybe one potential excellent pitching in the pipeline. That’s it. (I don’t keep track of our minor league prospects like others here do). I think Breslow should have made it happen.
  13. I know what he offered: not enough
  14. Ryan is much better ERA last I checked was 2.83 Gio is about a run higher. Still good-but Ryan is better
  15. I believe you already said as much-that he is never going to have much plate discipline. As the season progresses I expect his Ks will increase as he and everyone else gets tired. We’ll see.
  16. Then maybe Breslow should have put together a package that included Abreu instead of Duran for Ryan. We would have an OF of Rafaela, Duran, Anthony, occasionally Yoshida or Ref with Password in the wings. Ryan is a stud with a sub 3 ERA. Breslow missed the boat.
  17. It’s not the grade that counts. It’s why we achieved the grade. And looking back the Sox got a C-, not an F. Regardless, the point is this: if the team is as good as some here think it is why not go all in? Why not address our obvious needs to improve our chances for at least a pennant? It’s been a long time.
  18. I think there’s an excellent chance that they will implode. If you’ve been a Flops fan for as many years as I have you would know that implosions in the dog days of summer are in their blood. It wouldn’t surprise me for it to happen again.
  19. No argument that recently the team has been playing well. However we are still behind half a dozen teams as favorites in the league for winning a pennant ahead. I would have preferred bettering our odds by addressing the obvious needs the team has. If you guys think this team is so good why not go all in and get a #2 SP, a thumper like Naylor, and a reasonable backup catcher? Why waste this opportunity?
  20. Meanwhile theeeee Yankmees lose and KC just scored five runs in the top of the 10th against the Jays to take a 7-2 lead.
  21. I also predicted that in about two years we will be bona fide contenders for a ring. The future looks good….for a couple of years from now.
  22. I don’t care whether or not any other team picked up a #2 starter. It’s a need THIS team has that wasn’t met. As I wrote there are now half a dozen teams favored to win a pennant ahead of the Flops. Had Breslow done his job that would not be so. ESPN gave the team an “F” for their trade deadline effort. In contrast the Mariners got an A. Are you happy with the results at the deadline?
