  1. You dont "stash" Erod after his last performance. You see if its for real this time. Sure looked like it. We dont need Santana Right now IMO. Porcello Wright price, Pomeranz and Erod seem pretty good to me right now...Why stash Erod? Makes zero sense right now. Depth is importand, but unless pomeranz is slated to go to the pen, which hes not right now, then this doesnt make a lot of sense to me.
  2. Did anyone hear why in Gods name Farrell put Koji in in a non save situation? We do have other guys, but this manager chooses to keep using guys in the wrong situation or just overuse them...Koji had a day off but I believe he had worked a lot recently due to being given the closers role...now he strains his pec muscle? Hopefully there was nobody else available because thats about the only legit excuse for Koji being in there with a 4-0 lead...
  3. For those saying that DD should have secured the depth of the rotation last winter, you might want to rethink that...We already had a rotation set with depth in AAA as well as picking up Elias, which gave us 8-9 options. Your using hindsight and forgetting that a guy like DD most certainly would explore EVERY option. I think his track record should show that. Blaming him for the massive underperformance/injuries from our depth as well as rotation is unfair. Rich Hill wouldnt even come here because there was no guarantee of a MLB roster spot. Kelly and porcello looked great down the stretch. We still had a 23yo in ERod who everyone slotted in the #2 slot before his knee issues. Owens, Johnson, Elias, depth pickups like O'Sullivan and wright was looking at a swing man role. I heard no complaints about our pitching depth, only praise. Especially after getting Price.
  4. Beckett had blister issues with Marlins and had to change the way he gripped the ball. Had them in boston for a short time but we fixed that. Edit: guess i shouldve read the last couple comments.
  5. Why are people saying this guy is over his innings hes ever pitched before..or at least close... You guys might want to add Milb IP as well...they do count you know.. 2011 - 119.1IP 2012 - 147.1IP 2013 - 112.2IP 2014 - 115.1IP Now i understand he had an injury and was a swingman..point is hes pitched almost 150 one year and has been hanging around 120 betewwen starts and the pen. It may have been a few years ago, but the point remains he has pitched more ininngs than people are saying. minor league counts as well. Hes a big kid at 6'6 and 240lbs. Im guessing he can handle more than some think. Is there a concern? sure, but not nearly as much as those saying there is.
  6. I wouldnt be so quick to keep adding Kopech in every one of your trades. Ive said this for a while, even when everyone said he was trouble because he took a supplement from gnc to try and gain weight. Not some steroid. And got into a fight...he was 18-19. Give him a break( not you personally). Id rather have to reel him in a little than try to light a fire under his ass...He's got 100+ in his back pocket and good secondary stuff, which has improved. He hit 105 on multiple guns the other night...thats ridiculous!!! Now with Groome signed, whos also very highly touted, we have a couple potential studs. Losing Espinoza is tough but when you have a team thats ready to win now and over the next 3-4 years with all this young talent, you HAVE to make a move. esponiza wont even be ready, if at all, until then. This is the price you pay for young controlled starting pitching. Steep? Yes. You talked about signing Porcello through his prime years and now we have the same but cheaper. Porcello seems to be figuring it out and inthink the former #5 pick will too. I think Pomeranz is coming into his own. Im guessing DD and co. Does too, so they made the move. DD said there woild be moves that hurt a bit. This is certainly one of them. Im betting, like the sox, that Pomeranz eases that pain a bit.
  7. Ok ok..calm down. Apparently you have measured him yourself Regardles, i dont think thats the issue anyway... and I still don't think hes 6'1 I think they question the makeup
  8. Also I wouldnt go by his height on soxprospects..they always list shorter guys a couple inches taller. Bogey was 6'3 at one time..Pedey was 5'9.. AE is probably about 5'10, 6' with cleats
  9. Never said i didnt want pitching...just not as high on JF as some is all. Giving up Moncada Benintendi and Swihart is a big over pay regardless. Not for one starter. No way.
  10. I see shoulder issues within the next couple years I may be wrong. Just a somewhat unprofessional educated opinion One thing for sure is he is dominating right now and is going to bank someday if he can stay healthy.
  11. Very true. Good point DD has a good track record with these kinds of trades. He seems to be a really good evaluator of talent.
  12. I wouldnt pay that much for any pitcher...Besides, ive changed my stance on Fernandez. His mechanics scare me. Something i really didnt notice until pointed out to me recently.
  13. Good thing is we have him for his prime years and he looks to have found himself this year.
  14. I get your point, but....Xander bogaerts, mookie betts, JBJ, travis Shaw, Blake Swihart, Christian Vazquez...they do, but they also have to make tough trades when needed. Maybe an overpay, but thats what pitching costs..be lucky it was only one for one. It hurts, but it was what was available and needed. Id rather they do this and have a better chance at a WSC than stand pat
  15. Yeah, if your serious then you have zero cred...
  16. Really like this move. DD looking to keep his top two and is able to do just that. Espinoza may be a great pitcher in 3-4 years, but this guy is in his prime with a 2.5 era. We have him for his 28-30 years...Kopech will be here quicker and is looking like a potential front line starter. Agree ir not, hes the top pitching prospect now. Makes me wonder if DD wants 3 LHP in his rotation. Im sure ERod may have some value to a lot of teams. Change of scenery maybe...Just throwing it out there as a possibility. Bottom line is we have made our rotation better. We cant keep everyone and we have to give to get. I think if another big move is made for a starter it will be this offseason.
  17. The last two options are ok with me. Not Lakins and Doubon...thats too much IMO, but might take that. I wont be surprised if someone overpays, I just hope its not the Sox. Not really sure I would even want Hill...like I said, he scares me.
  18. Thats what I was thinking. If a bigger deal is made i think it will be this winter. I would love to see an OF of Benni Bradley and Betts. Eventually Moncada at 3b?? From what Im hearing/reading, DD would have to be bringing back something big for one of those two to go.
  19. I have read a lot in the inverted theories and I believe they make sense. My question is the same. Why invest the $$ if they know? Or is it they just dont buy the theory because hes not a doctor?
  20. I doubt he costs a lot with his injury history, age, and innings. Devers or Shaw would be a no. Im thinking closer to the last couple trades we made. Rich Hill scares me.
  21. Why do you think hes a ticking time bomb? His arm and the TJS?
  22. Fair enough...I would have to agree with you. There arent a lot of starters I would give up top offensive talent for. Fernandez IS one i would certainly consider it for though. would you give up JBj instead of Benni if they asked? Seeing benintendi is a Cfer and JBJ has a lot more value. If it was JBJ, Shaw and Erod would you do it? Not that I think they would want JBJ knowing they have to deal with Boras just like they will with Fernandez.
  23. How does the rule 5 work for Craig with his contract? Anyone know?
  24. The Jays made one of the worst trades getting RA Dickey, a 38yo flutterballer at the time, for Noah Syndergaard and Travis D'Arnaurd. I wouldnt call that smart business,..they mortgaged a LOT over two years to basically get to the playoffs. Theres no way in hell I would have given up what they did. Just because he just won a CYA? Hes a knuckleball pitcher for christ sakes!!! Those guys are unpredictable at best. To bet two top prospects on that guy was dumb if you ask me. Imagine if they waited another year or so for both those kids to be ready? AA was desperate and sold the farm for a playoff appearence. I dont want DD to do that. Id like to think hes a lot smarter than AA was before he was let go.
