  1. Hey man, Im staying in portland til the end of the season if ya wanna catch a game. Maybe Dalbec will blast a couple!!!
  2. Haha, I meant the deadline not AS break
  3. Yeah, I agree. Maybe another late inning arm that misses bats. I would guess if they do make a move in the pen it'll a name nobody expected who doesn't cost much. I don't see them spending a lot. Only 4 games left to gain ground. At the very most they could get to 6 games out. Providing NYY lose the rest of their games up to the break.
  4. Its looking like it. About time. Really making the NYY look bad this series. Do you see another move by the deadline if this team sweeps and then keeps it going with the Rays? And what move if yes?
  5. Cashner has been a solid #5 pick up and this offense is really hitting on all cylinders now...Pitching as a whole has been better. Hopefully it can finally ALL come together this year...
  6. Dalbec seems like the typical low avg good obp big slg/ops and a ton of whiffs kinda hitter. If he can tighten it up a bit more they can Put him @1b. Not sold on Ockimey yet. Really either one yet but Dalbec seems more likely to me. I think JBJ will not be offered arb or traded and Beni switching back to his normal cf position. Jury is still out on Duran. Has had a solid year all around and an MiL AS appearance this year, but I still haven't jumped on his bandwagon just yet. Casas is another interesting prospect to watch. Lots of power there, and really a solid all around game. Another corner guy. We have a bunch of those types right now. We still have some good talent in the upper levels on the farm. Some interesting names in the lower levels to watch too. My only complaint is Id like to see more homegrown starting pitching. Our current roster is filled with young, mostly home grown talent position players that have been steadily coming up since 2013 with lots of success and We have a top payroll to sign a lot of them. I really like the future for the Sox.
  7. DH has great stuff. that's been his thing though. lack of control and consistency. Hopefully Eovaldi can help balance things out down there because i really don't see this team making a BIG move unless they're within 4-5 games by the deadline.
  8. Hey bud! Hope you've been doing well. Yeah, its the human element. Your “best” varies from day to day. Obviously the physical issues they all go through are there, but How we/they think and feel have a LOT to do with everything, not just baseball. Even guys who seem very balanced emotionally can struggle with this game. I think the offense overall has played good enough to win many more games. The starters have been off, but have been a little better as of late. Now, the whole collection of failed starters and misfits in the bullpen was a terrible idea from the word go. Having no closer was doomed from the start IMO. We have 100+m committed to starting pitching(Eovaldi included), so they're not going to go get another 20-30m starter this year. Its been a mess this year for sure, but its certainly not over. Theres enough talent here to win. Thats a fact. Guys like Betts and JD are underachieving so far, but guys like Devers, Vaz, and Chavis have taken a step forward with their development. Hopefully it all comes together. Im not ready to sell off big names just yet. I think theres enough time and talent to get it going. Come the end of July/start of august I may have a different opinion.
  9. My boy should be going to the ASG this year. Shame he isnt. Hes having an amazing year.
  10. I got tons of love for my boy Vaz. Been singing his song since AA and now after the TJS and hand issue last year we are seeing the AS catcher he truly is. on BOTH sides of the game. Ill be honest, I didn't expect the bat to be this good this quick. He deserves to be in the ASG this year. No doubt
  11. He absolutely deserves it. It would be a shame for him to get snubbed....like Devers and Vaz.
  12. Unfortunately that kid hasn't been able to find the plate this year. Ridiculous amount of free passes. NOT the kind of thing you want to see. Maybe as a “let it fly” for an inning bullpen arm he may do better. Im not holding my breath though. They need a legit guy who can miss bats. Im not sold on NE yet, but With him already throwing and not being stretched out to start, he could be back sooner than we think. Im with you though. I hope they don't rush him. Even with Eovaldi returning at some point, IMO They still need another arm that has had better success down there. Internal or outside the organization. Not sure we have it internally.
  13. So we didnt want to pay 18m for a closer...aaaand now after a complete, and predicted meltdown of the Bullpen, weve got our closer for....18m Funny how that worked out. We have a group of failed starters that are not consistent enough to be reliable in a tight situation. Even when the starters are good, which for the most part they have been over the last month, the bullpen kicks the pooch more times than not. They may be tired but thats one of the many reasons running a BP this way has never worked. They need to go get another late inning arm that misses bats to go along with Eovaldi
  14. Guys have down seasons and this is certainly one for Mookie. Good thing his “bad” season is still well above a lot of MLB OFers. That, and his popularity is sky high, which we all know plays into the voting big time. Especially the GG. Anyway, the kids a stud and should be fine. If he wants 300m he needs to figure it out and step it up the rest of the year and next.
  15. I think sale could throw to either guy. Leon had the immediate better feel for Sale, but doesnt mean he cant pitch to vaz. Its not the pitch selection with Sale so much as it is HIS command of his pitches that day and his velocity nowadays. Sale is at an age where transitioning to “pitching” may be in the beginning stages. Lester went through it, And Price just did the last year or two. No more 98 in your back pocket. Sale still gets it up close to that, but on a less consistent basis. He may (is ) have a rough year, but i think he will be fine overall.
  16. With Mookies mediocre season does anyone think he deserves an AS appearance? I dont. Not this year anyway. Not hating, just being realistic.
  17. ;)But of course, I wouldn't have it any other way
  18. Thanks buddy!!! Hope you and the rest of the gang are doing well😎🤙⚾️
  19. So good to watch Vaz becoming the AS catcher he's capable of being. IMO, He def deserves an AS appearance. First the TJS then the hand injury slowed him down the last couple years. Now that he's healthy were now starting to see how valuable his bat can be with regular ABs.
  20. Sale Pom Erod with price coming in early if needed
  21. Thanks kimmi 😊 When i saw him in AA the year they told him to pay more attention to offense, his BB went up and the Ks went down. Took more pitches and usually made solid contact. Add in the passion hes has for the game and position and who he works with in the off season (Jose Molina) and i saw a great all around catcher in the making. Of course his was just an opinion, but he had that “IT” factor that made him stand out...to me anyway. So happy to see him back to full speed this year and able to help the Sox on BOTH sides of the game. I still believe hes a 280 320 400 hitter moving forward. Looks like were about to clinch the division GO SOX!!!
  22. They have the $$, they had a solid draft, it would appear, this year. Which says we have some decent scouting. And we have a young nucleus. I dont see any window really. This organization is set up really good IMO. If we need a FA, we can go get one. Need to go ovee the LT for a year or two? No problem...We will know a little more next year about this years draftees, but it looks to be a couple standouts in there with a little development. Also we can make trades. I really kinda laugh with all this window talk. Do you guys think that a multi billion dollar organization doesnt have A more detailed immediate short term plan, and a more generalized longer term plan? How well the immediate plan goes isually determines the longer one to some extent. So far, so good on all fronts from where Im sitting.
  23. I just said i didnt like the price deal. No need to be that emotional with your text. I never thought he would be a good fit here and he really isnt. I think overall he's been a bust considering his pay and expectations. If you disagree then fine, but thats my opinion on him. Pablo should have NEVER been signed IMHO. And EVERYONE knew about his weight issues. I said it when it happened and ill say it now. BOTH were dumb. But i understand when ownership needs a splash. I get it. Still Didnt make it a smart move IMO. Relying on Panda was the problem I had, not so much Thornburgs injury. To me anyway, that was the issue. But honestly trading Shaw didnt bother me as much as the Panda and Price signings because devers wasnt that far out from Boston and relief pitchers are relief pitchers...unless their closers. Once again, like I said...Overall Dom has done a good job. So please understand and Dont think im gonna like every move that he or any GM makes. I had valid reasons for my concerns with those deals.
  24. One truly bad move by DD was Shaw and Price. giving Panda the job when devers wasnt quite ready yet. Its worked iut good thank god. I didnt care for the price deal. Just dumb. Although i can understand because of his ALEast experience and he looked great. His artitude needs to change here though. Oh and maybe he could pitcj good too for 30m per... i doubt anyone thought hes look this terrible. Id say overall he's done a good job so far...i dont like Farrell but Ill give him some credit too this year. Not as many head scratchers.good for him. The lineup on paper before the season looked good. 90 win team, and seeing were in 1st place with a solid record, im not really seeing what all the complaining is about... Pom has looked great while Anderson wont throw until late 2018 or 2019. Kimbrel is the best close in the league. Dom has done MUCH better than Ben, and if the players in his 1st draft start making their way to boston over the next 2-3 years (looks like a couple keepers in the group) he will get another good grade by me.
