  1. Hope the Red Sox resign Ells. I dont like the idea of Choo manning a corner spot if Ells does walk and they put Vic or JBJ in center. I would rather have a Matt Holliday type player in LF and if JBJ is in center then Vic will be in RF. With Nava and Gomes filling in from time to time. Hope they s Maybe if Ryan Kalish can stay healthy he will be that Matt Holliday type that we need in LF. I just want a middle of the order hitter to fill LF field.
  2. Yeah u would think that the pain he has being experiencing would just get worse with more pitching. But who knows. I was watching Intentional Talk and Buch walked behind Chris and Kevin and he had his glove on walking infront of Pedey so maybe he is making progress.
  3. If thats all they can get then i would keep the players we have now. Why deal prospects for more mid tier talent. We have a rotation of Game 3 pitchers. We need the guy we can give the ball to in Game 1. People keep talking bout not sacrificing the future and i agree with that on some level, but when you are the Boston Red Sox and the fan base expects to win year after year i believe a front of the rotation guy is a must and we dont have that now. Buch could be that guy but his health is completely up in the air as of now. Im not saying sacrifice the whole farm by no means but you have to give a little to get a little so if a deal for a proven arm is there id say make it but for another mid tier pitcher then let the guys on the farm come up and get experience instead of being traded away for a #3 just doesnt make sense to me.
  4. Feldman would just been another mid tier pitcher like what we have in our rotation now. We are gonna have to give up someone with great potential to get the Ace that this club needs.
  5. Lets just hope if we do trade for Garza that Theo wants low tier players. But since Theo knows the farm system as well as he does is why i think a trade with the Cubs will be so hard. But ya never know. Fingers crossed we get a deal done with someone.
  6. Pitching yes. It has to be top of the list. Either Lee, Garza, or James Shields if he is available. No to any addition at 3rd. Young will cost a prospect which i dont think is a right move when the Sox seem pretty deep in the farm system at 3rd. Also with the addition of Thornton and maybe one more reliever i think this team should be good. I like Brian Wilson as an option. No lose of prospects and when he gets fully back if hes up to it he can close if anyone struggles. But the more and more i think of it i hope they dont trade for Papelbon. I like the young guns coming up and helping out in the bullpen instead of spending so much on Pap. But after the Break with the possible PED suspensions looming and the Deadline with the possibility of this team trading to go all in is very exciting.
  7. Well said. Thats why i believe we need a top of the rotation ace. Lester is down again but i think he can turn it around. And Buch is too injury prone. Lacky Felix and Demp are all good supporting starters but i think we need a front of the rotation arm to put out there in Game 1 of any series and be able to believe after Game 1 we will be up 1-0. If Cliff Lee is anywhere available this team needs to go after him. I hope Buch can come back soon and give us some big innings this year.
  8. I could see that infield and would be a great story all homegrown infield. But i still think Boggy a year away from being on the big league club for good. As far as next year id say it will be 1b Napoli (i think they resign him) 2b Peddy SS Iggy 3b WMB And maybe by midseason Boggy comes up and starts at SS. With Iggy being the Utility guy.
  9. I honestly hope Lester can turn things around after the Break. He has the potential to be a top tier lefty pitcher like he once was. I know the velocity is down but im not gonna write him off yet. I dont think trading him is the answer. I also think alot of posters are eager to write off a player and look for options elsewhere, those are the same people who said get rid of Bailey look how hes turned it around. I myself wanted Bailey gone and now it seems im eating my words. But i hope Lester can bounch back and a healthy Buch and a Lackey and Doubrant and a consistent Dempster can get us another World Series ring. I think a starter does need to be added at the deadline but i dont think Lester needs to be traded for another pitcher to come in. A starter for a prospect or two is definitely in my mind a must, because injuries do happen and if this team is all in to win it all I think the rotation has to be looked at. Think of Tim Lincecum last year, he had a horrible year so they stuck him in the pen and he was magic and helped the Giants secure another Series . Maybe thats what Lester needs its just a thought. But look what Tim Lincecum has done this year he was written off last year and tonite he is thrown a nohitter thru 8. I think Lester can turn it around and be the Ace of old.
  10. How is Daniel Bard doing in the Minors? Just wondering... i agree with everyone i believe that the young guys should get a chance out of the pen in the majors to see if they can help the big league club this year instead of trading away prospects for an older more expensive reliever. But i think that is exactly what Ben will do he'll trade a prospect for a major league reliever.
  11. I wouldnt trade Bogaerts unless its for an Ace or a slugger like Stanton. But i dont think he moves. I think the Red Sox go after a guy like Bud Norris or Matt Garza for the Rotation. And i hate to say it i think Iggy would be the trade chip to land either of those guys. I know im gonna catch heat for that but it just makes sense. Bogaerts is the SS of the future and Middlebrooks is gonna be at 3rd. And a trade for a long time 1st Baseman with a big bat in the offseason or a resign of Napoli if his bat gets power back in it. A bullpen arm is gonna happen. One atleast and maybe a call up to give some of the young kids a try. I like where the Sox are at this year and i hope they can keep it going. Maybe a couple of moves away and staying healthy and a little luck can bring us a World Series .
  12. Wow... trading the #4 before the #41 prospect... wow that is all
  13. After lastnite game i dont know what the answer should be. But one thing is for certain Bailey is gonna have to turn it around. I think options should be brought in and fast. Each game is too critical in the tight AL East.
  14. Agreed. Ive always loved to watch the Beard pitch. I think if he is back to form that he would be a great option. But who knows if he is back to form. Any reports on Wilson if hes back or not? Ive had a feeling that Papelbon will be back in Boston ever since the reports came out that he may be out there. Im not saying its the right answer by no means but i think he will be looked at really hard by Ben. If we are gonna compete for this championship we have to have a lock down closer and an elite bullpen. We have an elite bullpen and we have a closer who has been lock down most of the year when healthy, he has just had a couple of shaky outings that has started people to get to talking more about adding another bullpen arm. Im in the thinking of always getting more pitching so i hope Ben can add one more bullpen arm and it would be a plus if he could close baring any injury to Bailey if it happens.
  15. It takes a lil stress off if Felix Doubrant and constantly pitch like he did lastnite. I still think we need to give the kids on the farm a couple of spot starts before the deadline but not sacrificing our 2.5 lead in the east now. So a couple of spot starts wouldnt hurt and if Doubrant and Lackey can find some constancy and Dempster is still a wild catd for me going forward. I think atleast 1 SP and one bullpen arm has to be on Ben's to-do-list
  16. I think they can find a closer too. I think Bailey may just need a lil friendly competition. Im not saying he will out right lose the job if they bring someone in but i think it will make him understand that if he dont preform that other options will be used. The Blown save lastnite is just to be expected from a hard thrower. It happens thats all you can say. He isnt going to be perfect all year and we all would be dreaming if we thought he would be no closer is.
  17. Its offical Clay is on the DL, retroactive till July 9th. As far as trades go this spot start for some of the young guys may give the team a good look if they need to go out a pick anyone up or just call up from the farm. I hope either RDLR or Webster can have a good game and give us some good innings. Also does anyone think any of the White Sox pitchers will be likely trade candidates with the red sox?
  18. WMB is having a horrible season and no one can deny that. But im not about to write him off i just chalk it up to a sophomore slump. He has many years ahead of him. I would hit him higher in the lineup so he could get more at bats and maybe a couple of hits in a row will get a hit streak and power numbers back up. All im saying is give the kid a lil more time.
  19. I agree with you User Name its just beating a dead horse about Papelbon. And as we get closer to the deadline the more this will come up. I believe we need another closer plus atleast one SP by the deadline i just dont want Papelbon back. He left for the money now let him stay away.
  20. I think the idea of trading for Cliff Lee is a far stretch. But if Lee is available i would hope the Sox would definitely go after him. I honestly think a top 100 pitching prospect plus one position player would land Lee as a contract dump for the Phillys. I was in the thinking that Stephen Drew would be on the block come the deadline to make room for Iggy, but now since they DNA Pedro it looks more that he will stay even if he and Iggy swap letting Iggy be the everyday SS and Drew being the utility guy. I like the current pieces on the team now as far as position players. I think Gomes Carp and Victorino and Ells all stay and maybe one small trade just for depth using someone from the farm to use to make the trade. A trade for a SP is a big need to add beside Buch and Lester and bullpen guy who could potentially close. If the SP gets done i think this team will start to increase their lead on the other teams in the AL East and have a legitimate chance for a Championship.
  21. I say keep Middlebrooks down line. I say lets see what the kid has got. We have gotten a small sample of what his career is gonna be. I would love for the Sox to get Stanton but i just dont see it. He will cost a ton of prospects that will potentially be good major leaguers, (fingers crossed) he is the face of the Marlins and no matter if he is healthy or not the Marlins will want a ton of prospects back. He would prolly kill the ball and have awesome #s in Fenway but the price to get him is just too high in my opinion. I hope the Sox go after Cliff Lee at the deadline. But its still a lil early to see who all will be on the market, Lee is an ace and would love to see him in Boston. But the stretch leading up to the ASB is gonna make us be buyers or sellers, the schedule looks tough so im just holding on to hope we keep this up all year.
  22. Any ideas on if the Sox will go out and get one more arm for the pen? To my knowledge Brian Wilson is still out there... if hes anywhere close to healthy i would hope Cherrington will go after him.
  23. Agreed.
  24. Aceves and Steven Wright giving up 13 runs to the A's on a rainy tuesday night. Never thought that i would be wishing on Lackey and Morales to get back off the DL but im at that point now. Never thought those words come out of my mouth. Aceves is fine in the middle or long relief but im just not confrontable with him in a starting role, and as far a steven wright goes never been a fan of a knuckler, i appreciate what Wake done for us but that ship has sailed in my opinion.
