  1. Don't get me wrong, the optimists are still better than Fred's woe is me rants after each PA.
  2. Count me in on the "Brock Holt is a scrub" bandwagon. VA SOX FAN - NO! YOU ARE BEING NEGATIVE!
  3. Nava and Carp might be the worst defensive corner outfield tandem to ever take the field in MLB history.
  4. That should be a positive sign for a rebound. Hitting .192 with with RISP will not occur over a full season. Not even the Astros can manage that.
  5. I think you're off by a factor of 10 on wins. He would freak out and cut players after a couple of AB's. He would down to the DSL Red Sox roster before the season was over.
  6. They started fast last year, but that was "Best Team Ever". This team isn't as good, but they aren't the 2012 Red Sox either. 85-90 wins is a good season.
  7. Jeez dude, did you ever stop and remember that it's just a game?
  8. Red Sox would have been over the luxury tax had they signed Ellsbury. Ownership is not going to do that.
  9. Yankees will be around $185 million after arbitration and their $12 million contribution to player benefits. They will have holes at 2B, SS, DH, SP (1), CL, and most likely 3B. How much they will be able to spend this offseason depends on how they perform this year. If they are out of the race in September, they could be in trouble for 2015. Even if they make the playoffs, pushing the payroll over $210 million before addressing the offense is pretty unlikely.
  10. Lester will not sign with the Yankees.
  11. 1-0, Wings? Are they big underdogs this series?
  12. Youkilis was fine at 1B. We needed a 3B, and we found one in Beltre in 2010.
  13. I agree. The call in the Yankees game wasn't even debatable, but they still f***ed it up.
  14. What is the point of the replay system if the umps don't reverse the call?
  15. That looks foul.
  16. Agreed. Roberts is what he is. AAA depth. Fred will be calling for the release of Holt and Herrera in a couple of weeks, and then Heiker Meneses, Justin Henry, and Mike McCoy after each of them fail to hit .300 with 20 bombs. Cecchini might get mixed in, and Fred will ponder if he, like Bogaerts, is a choker when he isn't producing like Wade Boggs immediately.
  17. No, because he has to have a .900 OPS to just be a below average regular. He's one of the worst defensive OF's in baseball history. Great analysis though.
  18. http://www.rotoworld.com/headlines/mlb/426332/ryan-roberts-designated-for-assignment One down. Nava next please.
  19. He has a double digit BB% at one level in the minors. He did it in 2009 over a 39 PA sample. .270/.330/.400 is about what he produced as a 25 and 26 year old at AAA ball. He's probably better than Roberts, but I wouldn't bet a lot of money on a 27 year old rookie who is having a fast start. If he's at .700 OPS, he could be useful if he can defends well at 2B. I don't know enough to say either way.
  20. Sorry, didn't see it before I posted.
  21. Dojji feels the same way about Daniel Nava. Although, he might win the 2B job in 2015 by default.
  22. Gonzalez had one year of team control, played 1B, and was four years older. Stanton is going to get more than that.
  23. Yeah, that's a terrible deal. Middlebrooks is an above average regular at best, Betts is not an elite prospect, and Barnes is a third starter. Betts, Cecchini, and Owens is still probably not enough.
