  1. I like the idea of McCann. He's a five win player at his peak. The catcher market is always pretty thin. I wonder how much leverage that gives McCann to ask for $60-75 million.
  2. That's exactly what I was thinking. If Bogaerts continues to rake, they should move him to 3B for the rest of the year. Personally, I don't like WMB's approach. He's too impatient, and he's getting exploited by big league pitching. I think he's .280/.320/.500 player at his peak. Right now, he's a below average replacement player at 3B. They may be best off playing Bogaerts at 3B, and Iglesias at SS. I'd give it until the deadline, and I'm probably way off, but maybe we could see Bogaerts at 3B, Iglesias at SS, with Middlebrooks being a part of a Cliff Lee deal.
  3. They should just draft the best player available, because we are pretty bare in our lower level systems. I hope Jonathon Grey falls to us.
  4. Oops. Yeah, that's what I meant.
  5. Penguins +300 in 5. Penguins +350 in 6. I'm debating about what result to take. Can the Bruins win one at home, and Rask steals one? I'm a little worried about Vokoun. I could take the Pens to win the series at -200, or to win the Cup at +140. Any gamblers on the board?
  6. I would sign someone like Mike Morse, or maybe Corey Hart if we can get them on a short term deal. I think Morse would be a good fit, but only at 1B. He is an atrocious fielder. If he's a dead pull hitter, I'd like him playing 81 games at Fenway. I'd really like to get Stanton to play RF. Maybe a package of Cecchini, Brentz, and Webster could get it done. That would leave us with a lineup of: Bradley, CF Pedroia, 2B Ortiz, DH Stanton, RF Morse, 1B Middlebrooks, 3B Victorino, LF Saltalamacchia/Lavarnway, C Iglesias, Bogaerts, SS Ross, C Ciriaco, INF Nava, OF Kalish/Gomes, OF
  7. I'm not too worried about Gomes. He's a platoon player. I think we keep playing him against lefties, and hope he regains his stroke. He has a career .882 OPS against lefties, so I think with more AB's his numbers should normalize. He has a .205 BABIP, and a 20% walk rate, so those numbers offer some hope. If he keeps tanking, I think we could find a righty complement for Nava on the market for cheap.
  8. How much of a leash do we give Middlebrooks?
  9. I think we need a thread about the long term construction of the Red Sox. How will they look in 2014? If we make a big splash like trading for Cliff Lee, how will we accommodate his salary? When do our top prospects start making their way onto our roster? What do we do about players on expiring contracts?
  10. Maybe we could swap Lester plus one prospect for Lee.
  11. Phillies don't really need to trade Lee. They aren't terrible, and they have some salary coming off the books. I have to believe that the Phillies would want two elite prospects, and all of Lee's salary. I don't think Red Sox should make a major splash. We'd be paying Lee, Dempster, and Lackey almost $55 million next year. We also have to extend Buchholz and Lester. I think renting someone like Garza would be the wiser move.
  12. I'd like to see a Penguins/Blackhawks final. Clearly the best two teams in the league.
  13. Whar do you think about Oladipo playing the SF? Who's your number one prospect right now?
  14. Wizards snag Porter or Oladipo at three.
  15. http://www.rotoworld.com/player/mlb/5199/andrew-bailey Yep. De La Torre down.
  16. Where would De La Rosa fit into the rankings? I'd rank him 4th best.
  17. It really depends on what lens you look at the game from. If I had a vote, I would have picked Trout.
  18. He's threatening to win the award again.
  19. Very surprised to see the Yankees playing so well. Haven't watched many of their games. What's been the key to their success so far?
  20. Meanwhile, Mark Melancon has a 0.56 ERA with a 16/0 K:BB ratio.
  21. I'll bet he posts a screenshot of his Microsoft Word with size 1,000,000 font.
  22. Sean Coyle hit 2 HR's last night, giving him 9 on the season. He is slugging .789.
  23. Islanders +150 today at home. Worth a play?
  24. Hoping they lose one game, so I can go to Game 5.
