    Orioles will probably pursue him. As for Wily Mo Pena, his achilles heel was pitch recognition. Abreu has walked more than he strikes out, so it wouldn't too presumptions to assume that he has decent strike zone judgement.

    I wouldn't call going 12-14 since the break, and 7-7 in August a rejuvenation.

    I don't think he'll have much trouble getting a 6/60 deal. Could be an absolute steal if that power translates.

    I think you'll see some of those numbers normalize over the last 38 games of the season, plus we'll get Ross back and Bogaerts up in September who should help mitigate those problems. Also, our .713 OPS against LHP is about average. I think it's just magnified because of four straight poor showings against southpaws. I guess you could also look at it from the perspective that only about 25% of games are started by LHP. We'll face more righties down the stretch, and we've been excellent against them.

    I definitely think you'll see this in September. They'll probably let Bogaerts finish the season at Pawtucket and then call him up.

    Reynolds had an OPS of .678 with the Guardians, plus he's the worst defensive 3B in the game. Even if he somehow managed a .800 OPS, he'd give most of it back in the field. Also, I think they are counting on him to be the platoon partner with Overbay at 1B. Soriano is definitely an upgrade over Vernon Wells, but I think we both would be too. They will pay him and Wells $10 million to form a underwhelming LF duo in 2014. He's been good since coming to the Yankees, but I don't think there's any chance he'll sustain it with his 3/22 BB:K ratio, and his season long .299 OBP. They might be useful role players for the Yankees, but the Yankees aren't useful role players away from contending. They also have to deal with the luxury tax next year. I don't think flushing $10 million away on role players is the best way to get under that threshold.

    I guess that depends on your definition of what a terrible person is. If the worse thing he did was cheat at a game, and being a little too full of himself, then I can't condemn him.

    The only difference is that the Dodgers are good, and the Yankees aren't. The Yankees are too far back.

    Depends where their payroll is. They only have $41 million on the books for 2014, and $30 million for 2015, but that's before arbitration for key players like Moustakas and Hosmer. I'm guessing Shields could probably get 5/90 on the open market. That might be too rich for KC, unless they push their payroll over $100 million.

    Red Sox are favorites again today at -125, so obviously the books aren't too concerned with an eight game slide like so many others on this site are. Just for perspective, the Houston Astros went 6-2 over eight games at one point.

    Drew has been better than Iglesias, and I doubt Bogaerts is an upgrade over him right now. There is zero heat on Drew. The SS position is his until the end of the season.

    The Red Sox have a 4.5 game lead with 38 to play. The odds of them making the playoffs are substantially larger than 50/50.

    The Red Sox are 8-2 in Dempster's last 10 starts, and he just pitched 7 good innings against the Blue Jays. I think calling him an "automatic defeat" is a stretch. He definitely is below average though.

    Workman has pitched pretty well so far, but I doubt he's an upgrade over Dempster. At best, he's a marginal one.

    I think that it js more unlikely than likely. The Yankees are a worse team, on the road, and at best they mighf be slight favorites to win. They'll most likely be underdogs tomorrow.

    Reynolds was below replacement level this year, and cannot play the field. Soriano is a role player at this point in his career. The Yankees made a modest upgrade to a team that won't make the playoffs. They're going to be paying Wells and Soriano $10 million next year to be a below average LF duo.
