  1. That's what I hear.
  2. What is the latest on Vasquez and his recovery from TJ surgery?
  3. Verlander was his ace in Detroit much like Lester was the Sox ace in 2014. DD invested $$$$$$ in Verlander and the Sox let Lester walk. Unless you catch lightning in the bottle to get a true ace it generally cost you big time $$$$$ or big time prospects. Then there is the luck that is needed that the investment pays off.
  4. I agree. One of them has to be moved. If HRam was putting up better numbers you might be able to convince someone that need a power bat that he is your DH. Panda has never put up huge regular season numbers, he made his $$$$$ based on his October performance. I think Sox fans are down on him because of his poor D this year. He is getting older and I don't care what he says, the weight becomes more of an issue the older you get. I would revisit the Panda / Shields bad contract trade. Put Shields in the back half of the rotation and as a 4 or 5 he would be productive. Granted its a lot of $$$$$ for a 4 or 5, but its a lot of $$$$$ Panda is getting paid to be average.
  5. DD is big on power arms and that is surely something the Sox bullpen lacks. If you have lock down 7-8-9 inning arms coming out of the pen that is a lot of pressure removed from the starters. Some teams collect power arms with the hope one or two become late inning lock downs. Granted part of this years bullpen problems was its over use because of a week rotation.
  6. If you are going to blame Ben Cher for the three last place finishes you have to give him credit for the 2013 championship. That was his year when everything went right.
  7. JBJ has to be in the 2016 outfield discussion unless he is part of a trade to bring back a true ace.
  8. DD first move an easy one, releasing Masterson.
  9. Finding that "Ace" is at the top of the list for DD. Price is in the conversation, but I can't see him in Boston. Second, DD needs to solve the HRam problem. Then the bullpen needs to be rebuilt.
  10. That is the price he paid when not trading young players for a top of the rotation starter. There has to be a mix of using some of the chips in your system to repair holes on your major league club and keeping some to add youth to team.
  11. He is a DH with a team that already has a DH for 2016. After finding a top of the rotation starter DD has to figure what the Sox are doing with Ramirez.
  12. Another great catch last night. How could anyone want to see Ramirez in the OF instead of JBJ? If JBJ shows enough at the plate the rest of the way you can't move him unless it is in a deal to get a Sonny Gray. If you notice he is also starting to go the other way as last nights homer shows. Homers off of King Felix and Kulber are good signs for JBJ. He is just so smooth in the field!
  13. New GM needs to be able to find pitching talent.
  14. Ramirez can not be your LF in 2016. Dombrowski needs to move him or Sandival or both. After pitching these are the next to problems to solve.
  15. Ben Cher didn't learn its THE PITCHING! The Sox have begun to hit to show that there is enough there for the Sox to be successful moving forward. This off season it has to be pitching - pitching - and more pitching.
  16. Even if you blame Dombrowski for the Fielder signing, he was still able to move that contract. I hope he can do that with the Sandoval and/or Ramirez contracts.
  17. Well put! This is why Ben Cher is looking for a new job this morning.
  18. Dombrowski could put his first stamp on the Sox by having Ramirez get some time at first as the Sox play out the season. HE CANNOT BE YOUR STARTING LF IN 2016!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! At least you have a better idea if he can handle the position. I still think he is a DH that the Sox need to move and eat what ever $$$$$$ they have to.
  19. Pedroia's defense makes him valuable to the Sox. It to is a piece to improving the pitching. The problem moving forward is keeping him in the lineup. I don't see the Sox moving him until Moncada is ready though. They are not opening up a spot for Holt at second. Like I've said in the past Holt is not an every day player and is more valuable in the roll he is in.
  20. Koji was one of Ben Cher's better transactions. Brought in as depth he became the shut down closer one needs to win a championship.
  21. If JBJ finishes the season looking like he has finally found it, I can't see moving him. He doesn't have to be the hitter he was last week to be a piece to improving the Sox pitching. The amount of runs he saves with the glove would make up for him hitting in the .250 area. I would only move him if he is part of a trade to bring in a true top of the rotation starter.
  22. If you remember he wasn't brought here as a closer, and I don't think anyone predicted he would do what he did. I will give some credit to Ben Cher for resigning him last winter. Not everyone was on the same page with that one. Koji continued to be effective until the injury. The only problem is that is one of the few moves he made that had any success the last two years.
  23. I agreed with you then, and moving forward Holt is much more effective when not playing every day. With that said he can fill in for longer stretches when players go down. He is a valuable piece to the Sox rebuild for 2016.
  24. This will be interesting to see how this changes the approach to fix the pitching. Will Dombrowski be able to do things Ben Cher wasn't? DD has been known to use the farm system as a way to get the pieces his team needs. His approach has been so different then what we have seen the Sox do over the last half dozen years. Should be interesting. I will make this prediction, the Sox will have a true ace when they open 2016.
  25. Pedro had some of the best pitched baseball seasons in history.
