    He laid down a great bunt. i loved it but when he did it all i could think of was all of the crap we were going to hear from the host of people who are opposed to bunting to move runners along. I thought that it had been proven (stat masters) that it was one of the worst things that you could do. Considering when he bunted and the game situation i was really surprised. Does it say anything about the confidence level that Cora has in him? For the record, I liked the move. If he can move runners along by using the lost art, he has value at the plate.

    The obvious choice would be our old friend P. Sandoval. He proved us all wrong yesterday! A clean inning pitched - a three run dinger - and a stolen base for the big one. The possibility of getting him back might be too hard for us to resist. He has got some unfinished business here.

    I am not explaining why they are so different Bell because I see two different scenarios. I'm not going to be the one who says - Hey JBJ is really off to a bad start but so is Steve Pearce, so it is ok. My interest right now is JBJ and the thought that his defense more than makes up for his lack of offense in the eyes of some people. Steve Pearce is an entirely different topic for me. I hope that JBJ gets hot soon and can put this matter to rest.

    Oh I too find you very reasonable, especially when I agree with you and vice versa. Now that I mention it though, normally it is only the people that never agree with me that I find unreasonable. Pretty unusual point of view don't you think?

    Hey I hope he cranks it up as well. My comments are obviously the result of frustration with someone I have supported for years and who I now do think will be expendable soon if he does not hit just a little. My guess is that if the team plays well, they will live with JBJ for the time being. Management will continue to show support for him and we will keep hearing about how he is ready to break out of his slump any day now because of the exit velocity of the ball leaving his bat. Moving ahead as in next year, I think that his time as a member of our team really is in jeopardy if he can't get it going.

    I'm not sure that a blanket statement like this is supportable. Trust me, I'm in the camp of hope with respect to JBJ but I think that there is a big difference between Pearce and JBJ. Separate situations as far as I'm concerned.

    Honest to God I like the guy but it is time for him to get going or he will likely be gone. What am I missing right now? Do people really think that his defense is so good that it can justify his absolute incompetence at the plate? I do not but although I have always felt he was good out there I have never thought he was great. My favorite of course is Fred Lynn. Now, I can actually see carrying a catcher like Leon because he is competent playing the most important defensive position in the game. if JBJ gets hot and the team wins, ok - you keep carrying him I guess but if the decision is made to go in another direction, I would be fine with it.

    I remember this very well. I think that you are right to that it was his last go around for the Sox. My last comment and then I'll let it go. If the Red Sox really felt any sense of urgency, which obviously they don't, to replace any of their current outfielders, they really wouldn't have far to look.

    The only problem that I have with this is that although Castillo is getting older, we may never know what he could do at the ml level. Is he good enough to start even for us or least be the number 4 man out there. he has clearly progressed throughout his ml years. He isn't just some stiff taking up a roster spot. Has he become a decent outfilelder? I don't know but I bet he could hit ml pitching. Don't try to guess where I'm going with this because I'm not - but a good guess anyway. It is just a messed up situation.

    You could be right for sure. With all of the talk about the Red Sox not having any ml ready outfielders in the system, it just seems very strange to me. Basically I just think that it is ridiculous what has happened here. It is hard for me to digest because having a guy in the minors who can play but not giving him a chance for any reason just doesn't make sense to me. Makes me think about farm systems in general in another way i guess. People likely will read into this that I am thinking that he should be up and playing for us right now - that is not the case at all but I will say that if the day comes that we wind up sticking either Holt or Lin in the outfield for any reason and this guy stays in Pawtucket, I will just continue to chuckle. My real feeling is that yes he should be in the major leagues.

    This pretty much sums up how I feel about him. He deserves a shot and likely will not get it. He could be better than the fifth outfielder in the system as well. anyway - on to other things I guess

    Porcello is what many of us have said he is - a durable middle of the rotation pitcher. It was great to see him perform the way he did the other night.

    He probably is experiencing a feeling of security. it is still sad to me. Not only do I think that he could be a productive asset for another team I think that it is also likely that he could help us. in today's market would he be worth 10 mil. per year? who knows. Likely it just isn't worth the risk to him. For the record, I am much more concerned with a talented player stuck in a sad situation than i am by any of the luxury tax ramifications. In what world does a player like this not get a chance? (another chance)

    Now I got it. I bet we could compile quite the list. It might have to be titled Wouldas, Shouldas, and Couldas. I think at some point in time it is all about the individual not getting the job done as opposed to anyone doing too much to screw anything up.

    It is very strange. Really the only reason i brought it up is because there seems to be some debate hear about whether Swihart could have been handled differently, or whether this or that guy was brought up to soon, or whether or not JBJ should continue on doing his thing for us. It is also possible that for the money he is being paid, Castillo could be a bargain. If he never plays in to any scenario, why not just buy the guy out?

    and we have had to continue to listen over and over again about how the Red Sox are guilty of screwing up the careers of Swihart and likely others but here we have what could be one of the strangest situations of all. No one knows how well Castillo would play at the ml level. I 'm glad that he is over paid since I find the fact that he will likely never get to Fenway and continue to be our highest performing outfielder at the AAA level really really weird.

    and the baseball tragedy that is Rusney Castillo continues. Not many people talk about this but this one just seems so odd.

    What that he shot himself. I know you guys down there in cowboy country are shootin' at any thing that moves most days but really come on Moon. Give Bryce a little credit and a little love here! lol lol lol
