  1. this I think is a thoughtful post - not irrational enough to get a post of the day shout out from the gang but it works for me.
  2. I used your post to respond to but you have to know that I think that you are one of the reasonable rational posters here. You and Slasher too ! lol
  3. I'm just sitting here watching the world go round and round. I'm starting to get a chuckle out of this. There just doesn't seem to be any real compromise with some folks. You either believe what they believe or you are off the island. No one is always right or wrong. To quote Moon - "why is that so hard to understand?" You folks who believe that our farm system was obliterated aren't going to change your minds nor are you particularly open to other points of view. There were obvious reasons why its' ranking went from very good to one of the worst. Conjure up this one for me though - How in the hell can it possibly go from 30+ to 22 in a few short months? I know that you all will have a bevy of reasons that you agree on. Pardon my if I don't see it just the way you do. I don't care what the rankings say any more than I do about the people doing the rankings. It seems to me to be just a tad subjective - too much for me. Now come on, huddle up and give me all of your reasons why we seem to be moving toward the top 20. Got to be because DD is gone don't you think.
  4. I don't think that I disagree with any of this. Imagine that!
  5. I'm pretty sensitive but I understand where you are coming from and whatever you throw my way, I can take it. I like the fact that I don't have to work too hard to figure out how you feel about things. lol
  6. sarcasm my friend! I think that both Chavis and Dalbec are superior to any of the guys traded except for possibly Moncada. i would be fine with them staying in Boston but if they were traded for upgrades I would be ok with that as well. The extremely weak and decimated farm system comment is just me parroting what has been said for so very very tiringly long. And yes I never did buy into the repeated refrain that our farm was the worst in all of baseball. I'm pretty sure that people here think that I am some kind of huge supporter of all things DD. A defender yes but a huge supporter no not really. Whoever our GM is he gets my support. I might not always agree with the moves he makes but I will never go off the rails with respect to what is done as some here have seemed to do. I also do not like to get caught up in the silliness of comparing GMs. Plenty of negatives as well as positives can be found with respect to most of them. I'm clearly not as good a fan as the vocal critics here are.
  7. I understnd but it does seem to be intolerable to some that there can actually be a person here not willing to accept the viewpoints of the "loudest" among us. I would leave this topic absolutely alone if others could move on but that does not seem to be the case.
  8. I agree with the bulk of your post notin but I'm not so sure that the "stop please" comment had anything to do with my views regarding trades and when and how they get done. Your approach is a much more middle ground approach which I appreciate. it is pretty much how I feel.
  9. Was this in reference to me Moon? It would be a good thing if everyone played nicely i suppose but it seems to me that much like the political landscape today there is no middle ground. I am pretty content with my opinions.
  10. That is all you got for me Slasher? Really? How about it is my opinion. I'm fine with you thinking that I am all wrong. Hey perhaps you'll even get another post of the day comment from the people who share your feelings.
  11. stop please what? You make it sound as though I am accusing you of something and i'm not. Can a gm really get it right in your world? Maybe I should say things like - it appears to me or it is my opinion - . I'll defend myself pretty well and I do in fact think that there is an ample amount of hypocrisy evident on this board.
  12. bringing in kimbrel for those guys was a great deal. margot certainly was blocked. i liked guerra a great deal but i think the plan all along was for bogaerts to be our ss going forward.
  13. seriously - you don't think dalbec is worth hanging on to? who did dd trade away that looked any better? i know that you will have an answer for this but i guess it is doubtful that i will understand your logic. i hope that our incoming gm doesn't trade a couple of our solid prospects and decimate our extremely weak farm system
  14. I've mentioned the same thing and got just about the same response as you did. All of a sudden it looks to be ok to trade guys who actually have a chance of making in ml baseball. For the record though, it wouldn't particularly bother me if either of these two guys get traded in hopes of upgrading our team. My question to this group really has been, who are the current ml impact newcomers that we traded away. We didn't really have all that much wheat in our system when DD took over. Outside of Moncada it is quite possible that the players traded will amount to not very much. You can't wait forever for a young player to develop.
  15. I did not say that. he is absolutely blocked. If he is traded though, wait for the s*** storm. Another prospect traded away - my oh my.
  16. You are right!!!
  17. if every single worthy prospect was traded for nothing in return - yes i would call that decimation. We didn't and we didn't. Now I'm reading about someone thinks it a good idea to trade Bobby Dalbec because he is blocked. Confused in Maine
  18. POST OF THE DAY - Oh wait, is it to early in the day? I agree with him so it must be the post of the day! Isn't that how it works? Even with the sarcastic response, i do like and agree with this post.
  19. Look at you Slasher - you got two posts of the day from Kimmi. My goodness, try to control your impulses. Oh by the way, thinning out the farm to greatly improve the team in my estimation is not a decimation.
  20. Wow - I see this in just the opposite way. I would never mention Ben's name at all if I did not have to hear constantly about how he did so much better building our farm system and how much DD destroyed it. I think both of those points of view are irrational. There is a middle ground. I think that the executives here are getting much too much press to begin with.
  21. and there you have it!!!
  22. I'll tell you what type of a dopey old fan I am Slasher. Since 1955, I have always believed that the Red Sox have had a chance every single time. It is just who I am. I don't believe in cliffs either. what is going to be for me - 1. I am just not being realistic 2. I will never admit defeat until the games get played. yup - it is always about choice number two for me. The way i was raised the way i played and the way I coached. I'm going to support the GM no matter who he is too.
  23. i like your post primarily because it is an equal opportunity criticizer. lol Ben is gone - DD is gone - but the beat goes on.
  24. The way I see it - the "post of the day" has to be one that espouses your viewpoints almost expressly whether they are meant to or not. Ben cxerington is being made out to be some kind of wonderman minor league builder. His proponents can't be satisfied with simply saying that he did a good job. On the other hand DD is being represented as a farm wrecker by the very same people because he traded role players for the most part to strengthen our team going forward. That is silly. There is always a middle ground. Also it is the constant refrain of "win now at any cost" that annoys me. I have to believe that that is why it is repeated. Doesn't the same old song ever get tiresome?
  25. yup - the night i watched them, I'm glad an on field fight didn't break out.
