  1. you are working it admirably though!!!!!
  2. and writing too
  3. It is a logical way to look at things. Benintendi was the darling prospect - Successful at every level. A no brainer to keep in the eyes of most. I loved his signing and wish that it had never come down to trading either of the two but it did. When i saw Benintendi and Moncada standing side by side in Portland, I became a big fan of Moncadas. A man child if you will. A lot bigger and stronger than Beni will ever be. Limitless potential. I am a fan and have gotten over losing him. I have never complained about the trade and am happy that Benintendi has done a pretty good job for us overall. It was indeed the price of doing business. it makes no difference that many of our arm chair GMs might think that if they were in charge they could have acquired Chris Sale for less. Done deal.
  4. I agree with you here. With respect to Moreland, I get it. He played a role but not nearly the role the other three have played.
  5. Not necessarily to change the subject here since it is all a good read, but I just read Tomase's article about 4 who he thinks are likely gone before next year, and I have to say that even though I understand that changes need to be made and are coming, I can't help feeling sad about not seeing this group in Red Sox unis next year - JBJ, Porcello, Moreland, and Holt. Each has made huge contributions to this franchise. Holt and Porcello have been very outspoken about how much they love playing for this franchise. it is rare to find professional athletes as comitted as they have been. If they are in fact on the way out, i will miss them and wish them nothing but the best.
  6. If this is accurate it is not particularly flattering with respect to John Henry. I'm ok with this because I do think that it is accurate. There might be good quality candidates who would have a tough time working for someone like this regardless of how much money he was willing to pay them.
  7. yes i believe that you are right. Benintendi in terms of developed talent was ahead of Moncada. Once again I was that guy as I continue to be who thinks that in terms of overall athleticism and potential Moncada overshadows Benintendi. We seem to be stuck in a time where some want to argue about who was traded and why as well as what we could have done if we kept everyone. In order to get Chris Sale, which i was and am delighted over, someone of quality had to be traded. We traded away the guy with monster potential and kept the guy who has done a decent job and likely will continue to do so. We did not have time to wait for Moncada to develop.
  8. When I see this list it just kind of confirms my personal opinion - the farm certainly was used but based on what these top prospects traded have done compared to the return not in any way was it ruined or decimated. It is possible that some might become stars in the future but their trades brought us legitimate stars. There are any number of people here who just didn't like the way DD did business and obviously are pleased that he is gone. hey I'm ok with that I felt the same way when Cherington was fired. Oh wait - some of you don't think that he was fired. Sorry! I grew kind of tired by the way he did business so I do understand how you feel. Now I know that some of you will bitch that I brought up Cherington's name - tit for tat .
  9. i would tend to add to your list just a bit - C.J. Chatham could become the second baseman that we are looking for. Kyle Hart - just never know Tanner Houck - well worth a shot and soon. Jarren Durran- has the apparent skills to play a role fairly soon Bryan Mata - don't think that I would give up on arm like that just yet. I'm the optimist. I get that but the farm was well used but it is not the dire straits that some people seem to think that it is.
  10. It's exactly how i feel stated in such a better way.
  11. This is exactly how I feel.
  12. Rational thought from a good Mainer!
  13. I know you do. (about the heart thing) It is possible that I agree with you more than I will ever let on too!
  14. no - I don't care what people complain about really. it is just the concept that some think that they are always right that tends to goad me a bit. I have seen and read everything that has been posted about the "farm". Why is it I just can't buy into the overwhelming majority here who are convinced that he decimated or ruined all that we had in the system? I don't get it. I'm one who believes in listening to others as a rule before I make any decisions. I'm just surprised at myself for not being convinced by all the negative that has been said. My initial response to you was your comment "We all saw it happen". I didn't thus I must not count with respect to your statement.
  15. Now I'm not even counted because I disagree! whatever shall I do? We all saw it happen except me. wheat stayed chaff went for the most part.
  16. and that's why i was for keeping the real athlete - moncada - over benintendi
  17. this is the absolute truth
  18. Obviously i don't agree with you.
  19. you see Slasher that's what I mean. A lesser man would just seem overwhelmed by all of the anti DD ******** that floats around here. Not me!!! I'm just that one old lost ram who sneaked out of the pen when it comes to the talksox forum. Actually I'm stunned and surprised that I haven't been asked to take my act somewhere else. I'm as devoted a fan as most here and have been for many years, it just amazes me how numb i can be to the truth. lol I'm an outlier. In DD i trusted. Now with all that being said, if you would like me to get in touch with my front office contacts to recommend you for the GM's job, just let me know. I would do that for you!
  20. I think that it is becoming apparent that this is the case. Criticism causes him to react in catering ways. He needs to own the major decisions that are made.
  21. DD overall did a very good job for us although some depth was lost from the farm. it certainly was not decimated or ruined.
  22. see what I'm saying moon - decimated the farm - ruined the farm - meaningless strong language because someone doesn't like the way someone else does business - it doesn't align with the way they want things to be.
  23. I think that what you say here is a very fair assessment.
  24. You have been fair in your approach for the most part I think. When I saw the "ruined the farm" comment I had to react. There are many posters here who do not agree with me. i'm ok with that. i'm fairly sure that much of the over the top wording that gets used is simply to get a reaction from people like me. Personally i could care less what anyone thinks or says here but words that suggest that this guy single handedly took down a farm system in my opinion is a joke. What I really think some are trying to say is that they disagree with what he did so much that they could have actually done a better job than DD. That is a big joke. If anyone truly thinks that he destroyed the farm by the trades he made, I could not disagree more. there are no all stars coming from that group anytime soon. Was too much given to get what we needed? Maybe I guess. Too much money spent on some contracts? probably.
