  1. Now I'm not even counted because I disagree! whatever shall I do? We all saw it happen except me. wheat stayed chaff went for the most part.
  2. and that's why i was for keeping the real athlete - moncada - over benintendi
  3. this is the absolute truth
  4. Obviously i don't agree with you.
  5. you see Slasher that's what I mean. A lesser man would just seem overwhelmed by all of the anti DD ******** that floats around here. Not me!!! I'm just that one old lost ram who sneaked out of the pen when it comes to the talksox forum. Actually I'm stunned and surprised that I haven't been asked to take my act somewhere else. I'm as devoted a fan as most here and have been for many years, it just amazes me how numb i can be to the truth. lol I'm an outlier. In DD i trusted. Now with all that being said, if you would like me to get in touch with my front office contacts to recommend you for the GM's job, just let me know. I would do that for you!
  6. I think that it is becoming apparent that this is the case. Criticism causes him to react in catering ways. He needs to own the major decisions that are made.
  7. DD overall did a very good job for us although some depth was lost from the farm. it certainly was not decimated or ruined.
  8. see what I'm saying moon - decimated the farm - ruined the farm - meaningless strong language because someone doesn't like the way someone else does business - it doesn't align with the way they want things to be.
  9. I think that what you say here is a very fair assessment.
  10. You have been fair in your approach for the most part I think. When I saw the "ruined the farm" comment I had to react. There are many posters here who do not agree with me. i'm ok with that. i'm fairly sure that much of the over the top wording that gets used is simply to get a reaction from people like me. Personally i could care less what anyone thinks or says here but words that suggest that this guy single handedly took down a farm system in my opinion is a joke. What I really think some are trying to say is that they disagree with what he did so much that they could have actually done a better job than DD. That is a big joke. If anyone truly thinks that he destroyed the farm by the trades he made, I could not disagree more. there are no all stars coming from that group anytime soon. Was too much given to get what we needed? Maybe I guess. Too much money spent on some contracts? probably.
  11. Moncada and Kopech for Sale - hmmmmmmm Espinoza for someone who could throw a ball - we shall see on this one. I like Benintendi of course but out of this group I was really only saddened by the loss of Moncada although I think that it was a good necessary deal to make.
  12. You should find nothing i say as being strange. I do not wordsmith. I try to be fairly upfront. I think that Dombrowski is a very talented GM and I do not believe that he ruined anything. I hope that you do not think that I am picking on you or your friends. My comments are direct responses to comments that I do not think are fair.
  13. Decimate is a far better word than ruin for sure. You are honest at least with yourself. You think that you should have had the job and certainly could have done a better one than DD. Of course I don't agree with you but I like the up front straight forward approach. No playing around - good. Oh, i think that if you had used the word depleted I could agree with you .
  14. I think that the trades made by DD were absolutely worth it. I really don't think that losing the players that we lost ruined anything. Maybe from a depth perspective I guess but that is about it. I really don't think that there are many players on the roster that should feel particularly safe right now. If you are intent on dumping payroll why would you not try to get rid of anyone who poses a $ problem regardless of how good they might be. I think that Porcello and Bradley are both gone and if we buy the different approach that could happen with ownership I think that if Martinez does not opt out that he will be traded. Lip service is being given To Betts but once again i think that it is quite likely that he winds up playing somewhere else.
  15. Perhaps it is the choice of wording I guess. Saying that someone ruined something certainly implies that something really bad was done. Using words of exaggeration to attempt to prove a point is something that gets done a lot these days. Having watched the production of the players traded tells me that if trading them caused the ruination then that farm system really was all that good to begin with. I don't agree with the people here who constantly claim that the sole cause of this teams exagerated decline was a result of DD trading the players he traded.
  16. ok - I think that constantly claiming that Dombrowski ruined the farm is ridiculous. You and some others here have certainly been consistent with the claim. If trading away the players that were traded away to acquire top level ml talent is your example of ruining the farm, I would only say ok - your opinion as well as some others here. I'll keep watching for the all stars that were traded away to really start producing. I think that a more likely approach to this is that there are posters on this site who truly think that they could have done a better job than DD. I understand that no one is going to own this one but I believe it. I guess it might also be obvious that many are very pleased with JH latest statement about cutting payroll. I'm not exactly sure how to take that one but I am not particularly impressed with anyone who is wealthy and can claim that someone else has wasted their money. Soon we will actually find out if he is serious about what he is saying. Get rid of the big money makers and load up on the cheap cost controlled players. Big time trades could also be on the horizon.
  17. Dave Dombrowski is a well respected GM in ml baseball. I have repeatedly from what 4 or 5 posters here who have constantly complained about the job he did simply because they just don't like his methods. Did he ruin the farm? Not in my opinion at all. he did what he had to do to create what should have been a quality team for years. If the starting pitchers had remained healthy, I believe that we would be gearing up for some fall baseball. I obviously was not in favor of the firing and I certainly do not think that Cora should go but if the consensus is that this team "quit", then Cora needs to figure a few things out. His job is to make sure that they don't quit regardless of what the scoreboard says. If one of these two men had to go and the general feeling is that the team quit, then Cora should be the one pacing his bags.
  18. Someone must like you very much here or you would not get away with this. Two subjects that i personally try to stay away from and i be that you can guess what they might be.
  19. likely true based on the potential candidates to replace either.
  20. major talent?
  21. I agree that you just can't ignore the business of baseball. My comments really refer to the overall opinion that trading away the players that were traded decimated the farm. It did thin a great deal of players out who really to date it seems would be able to play minor supporting roles. An argument stating that trades could have been done more effectively or that somehow we could have been just as competitive without making some of the big splashes that we made, in my opinion is silly. When playing GM, things always seem easier. Almost as easy as the people here who constantly want to sound as though they know more than they likely do.
  22. i honestly think that if the starting rotation had remained healthy as expected and that DD had added maybe just one piece to the bullpen, this team would definitely still be in the hunt. I honestly believe that the prospects worth keeping were kept. I don't know what the future may bring but personally it gets tiring to hear that DD decimated the farm by trading away players that quite possibly would never have helped us. the ones that possibly could help us down the line, brought back some pretty good players. Some of this lengthy discussion comes as a result of a difference in philosophy I think.
  23. Some people here seem to share your sentiments. The but seems to be that some of those same people were not particularly opposed to the trades that were made to allow us to be so very successful. This i find quite ironic. The alternative I guess was to not make many of the trades or to have done exactly what a few posters here have suggested with respect to them. i happen to think that a constant claim that DD destroyed the farm while winning the world series is a little silly. I do also believe that mlb in general has made it very difficult for a team to be successful without a constant production of high level homegrown talent. There is a great deal of hindsight that gets thrown around here so i feel reasonably confident in saying that moving forward I think that it is highly unlikely that anyone traded will become the next super star. Also making ml teams pay a huge penalty for payroll decisions will ultimately allow the very very rich to get very very very richer. I'm ok with that but think about it - you think that is what most of the posters here want to see?
  24. think it might depend on what the individual thinks is progressive. is it possible you think for a person to disagree with some new ideas that don't necessarily seem progressive to them? I think so. some of the things I see being pushed as progressive I think many believe to be silly.
  25. I'm an equal opportunity kind of guy. Always have been. I was a history teacher and sometimes these days I do believe that what I was doing was in fact "a tale told by an idiot". Good thing I did some coaching along the way. lol
