  1. What is very frustrating for me is that the pitching situation was predictable.
  2. Too many unrealistic expectations to start the season with. A lot of assumptions that probably should not have been made. I never really get the feeling that this team has much of a chance of coming back when they fall behind. I wanted to believe in all of the positive thinking points of view but once again there were just too many question marks. We have some good young players but this team is a long ways away from being a good team. It is not a quick fix.
  3. I'm here because I can't sleep anymore and I don't want to do my yard work. The positive side of this is that when I was younger, I never would have had the time to do this. Now I do.
  4. It was meant as a compliment.
  5. Buchholz is fortunate that he has been playing for a team that can afford him. If you are satisfied with what you are going to get from him and can afford him which obviously the Sox can than fine - keep him. You just clearly can't depend on him staying healthy. You have to have a secondary plan ready to go if he stays.
  6. Ok - I will concede - big friend ? You should take it as a compliment. You are without question the best "chummer" of waters "stirrer" of pots on this board. You provide a source of entertainment that allows me to waste all of this time on the computer. It's a good thing that I am retired. You humor me almost as much as all of my pain in the ass friends do up here on a daily basis.
  7. I want to be clear here - just my opinion once again- He has performed at the major league level well already. He is costing the club more money. He is a better player than Shaw will ever be. Ortiz does not want to play first base and shouldn't because there is a very good chance that he will get injured if he does. Hanley Ramirez won't be going there until next year at the earliest. It 's time to consider someone other than Napoli. Personally, I don't want to see Holt become an everyday first baseman. I think it is time to give Craig a shot. Oh yeah - I don't want to see Nava there.
  8. Allen Craig continues to hit in Pawtucket. First base for the big club has to be right around the corner.
  9. Nice caps by the way- I get your point. My opinion is my own and yours is someone elses.
  10. garbage? Keep blatting away. You don't chum the waters quite as well as your little friend.
  11. I was an English/History guy. I try to be concise and clear. When i post, feel free to ask for clarification if you like. I don't think that you will need to.
  12. I know you do. I actually was referring to people processing the posts of others.
  13. Any real baseball fan agrees with you I hope. When I was young, the game meant less but it was much more significant. It is like the voting on every foolish reality show that we have now. It is a sad sign of the times.
  14. Your point is well taken here. I know that I don't have to tell you that I would guess that there isn't a lot of real thought going into anyone 's posts here unless they can be turned inflammatory. I agree with you - Bogaerts is an all-star but I can understand why he isn't going to the game.
  15. Jack squat. Good one. I don't call people out. I asked SK a question. I'm pretty sure he at least has heard of Hernandez. The only point I was trying to make was that I find it interesting that so few people who claim to know so much have no clue as to who the player is who is quite possibly playing the best baseball of anyone in our minor league system. You can bitch all you want to about that one but it is a fact.
  16. It's all about people's opinions. I'm pretty comfortable with mine. Based on the performances of all of the young players in our farm system, I would say that we are just loaded up fine with lots of fringe prospects. I just happen to like the guys who are playing the best.
  17. Another very good outing by Owens last night. Now I get it - With Kelly getting hurt the other night it makes all the sense in the world to leave these guys (Johnson - Owens - Wright ) in Pawtucket. The Pawsox need the good arms more than the big club needs them.
  18. Once again just for the record - it's the players!
  19. sk - You write as though you might know something about what is going on in our farm system. Why do I find it unbelievable that people who certainly sound like they know something have never heard of Hernandez? He is having as good a year as any player at any level. A 22 year old getting no love. Sad.
  20. I do - and you are wrong. Never said he was key piece but a possible piece.
  21. Hernandez+Margot+one of (Johnson-Wright-Barnes-Owens) = 1 good starting pitcher possibly. Agree?Disagree? i feel like I am beating a dead horse.
  22. I would try to keep Guera(sp?) I think if possible even though he is a ss.
  23. Thanks for posting this. I have been trying to say this on the minor league thread but I guess I haven't been clear enough. Hernandez (sad that many posters here have not heard of him}+ Margot+ the next one could be picked from the young potential starters (Johnson,Wright, Owens, Barnes) might create an attractive package. I know that you are familiar with Hernandez so before anyone goes into attack mode check him out. Not bad for 22 year old.
  24. I think that maybe you are missing my point. I'm pretty sure Hernandez will never play in Boston because he is a ss. In terms of being a "prospect", you can call him fringe if you like. There is no one having a better year than he is in either Pawtucket or Portland. I don't consider that fringe. Margot may become what people think he might. He hasn't just yet. Hernandez is tradeable along with Margot. That is the point - that and I was a little surprised that people had not even heard of the player having the beat season for our franchise at both the AAA and AA levels.
