I have been a supporter of his as I was for those other two guys before him when they held the same job he holds. I like the fact that we have Kimbrel and I like the fact that we have Sale. other than that ... What have you done for me lately? One of my biggest gripes and concerns has and will continue to be that they didn't add the power bat to accompany what we have and to help make up for what we lost. I've been willing to give Moreland a shot but I am really less than impressed with him. If Napoli had been resigned, i would have been just as happy. We have a number of good contact hitters but outside of Mookie and Ramirez (when he is able to play) it really doesn't look like there is enough pop in our lineup. Most of our players actually look like what they are - contact hitters. It is very disappointing for sure and I'm not anymore of a happy camper than anyone else with the product that we are seeing out there. DD is the boss and he gets to take the bulk of the blame.

i'm done defending DD for the Pomeranz trade although I still think that there is a chance that he could help us going forward. Saw an interview with Pomeranz yesterday and I was less than impressed. i like athletes to have some emotion. He looks and sounds like he has none. i'll add that what bothers me most about the trade at this time is not the fact that we lost Espinoza but that we possibly could and probably should have gotten more than Pomeranz in the trade. Even with all of his potential, the fact that we traded an 18 year old pitcher who really hasn't done much yet (I know - he is just a teenager)and who is currently injured and unable to pitch means nothing to me. The fact remains though that he could very well have brought us more and right now the trade looks terrible.

ya lets see - did any of our current players actually play for us before DD was hired?- thought so. I wonder which group might be under performing the most? it is ridiculous to blame any one person for this big bag of suck that we have playing for us currently. A poorly coached bunch of little punch and judy players.

it is a damn good thing that we made the trade for Kimbrel. it at least gives us a chance when Sale pitches and when somone else might be having a good day.

he never was and never will be a cleanup hitter in the traditional sense. he will hit. i'm pretty sure of that but he is not by any means the second coming of Freddie Lynn.

The way this team is playing I would save Kimbrel for days that Sale pitches. If we are going to score just a couple of runs per, these two guys deserve to get them.

I think I tend to see it the way you do. I think the trade was worth it and without this guy this year, many fewer people would be following the Sox.

yes I do know the answer to that - it is a rocky path that won't end well ultimately for the good middle class citizen of our state.

It is a great philosophical debate for sure but being one who isn't particularly philosophical - What would the picture look like if Kimbrel was not currently on our roster? That particular one was worth it.

If Price comes back and is healthy, he still will pitch the equivalent of what should be a regular season's work. Assuming the Sox get to the second season - which really does seem to add enough innings to seem like a mini second season.

I would for sure. i would think that most teams would. As for our team, what do you think? think JF will give us the old - extra rest - keeping them fresh- don't want to over work anyone this early - it's a long season don't get concerned about outcomes right now - ... speeches?

Absolute truth - you and I come from a state that wants to raise our minimum starting teacher's salaries to 40,000 (1/3 jump). Absolutely a good thing to do. Where is the $ going to come from?

What do those little yellow circley things mean and how do you do that bold thing anyway? i might be able to get a little snarky(lol) if I learn how to pick and choose little things that I read from other people's postings. remember that I'm one of the guys here who isn't all that sharp. have trouble with big words and understanding advanced metrics. i'm just fooling around - it is a rainy day (as it has been since the middle of April) and i am bored. You have a great Mother's Day! -
i do agree with you in general that spending a lot of money and prospects as well really isn't very effective in terms of using your resources. We are seeing some of the "what can happens if you do" for sure right now. i have to say though that when it works - Kimbrel- it can look pretty good. With the way our current team is performing, he looks to be about as valuable as anyone that we have.

I agree that relief pitchers in general are in fact basically failed starters but finding and identifying one that can serve as one of the very best closers in the game is not easy to do. Finding relief pitchers in general for sure. Keep throwing them at the wall so to speak. the deal for Kimrel just looks outstanding to me at this point in time. you have a team that is struggling to score for sure. No one really knows whether they will produce runs as they have in the past regardless of what any data indicates. Having that special one at the back of the bullpen who for the most part (as in all the time this year) has made the trade of Margot and others for him seem really worth it to me. Maybe DD just got lucky but without him in that bullpen we would likely be more even more unhappy than we are right now.

I think that you are right. i hope that it doesn't turn out badly for Devers if in fact he is just not ready. Suspect Chavis will soon start to move up through the system as well. The contingency plan for what to do if Sandoval didn't do was weak and I'm sure that they were uncomfortable putting that much faith in a successful Pablo return. Like most here, i really wanted them to resign Beltre when they could have (should have - thanks whoever the gm was at the time) but I would not trade anyone that might make an impact for us for him now. Got to look ahead not behind. Sandoval will likely get one more shot but it won't surprise me if he is gone before this season ends. One way or another. -
thank you - i know exactly what you mean. Those were the facts about Moncada that everyone saw or certainly had a chance to see though. i know that there were people who were very critical of his K rate when he got the call up. It should have come as no surprise at all. I still fully expect this kid to be a major impact player.
