  1. so true - or bring back Morehead!
  2. The latest is that Price is starting it up again. I know that it might not be a popular opinion but a functioning Price could really help us down the stretch. I have very little confidence overall right now in either Porcello (imagine that), E-Rod (hope he proves me wrong) and just a little more confidence in Pomeranz(even though I still him and the trade). Based on what we have seen recently, it would be Sale followed by Fister in the big picking order these days. I think we need another big armed lefty in there.
  3. I like Johnson but what he ultimately gives is another 4/5 starter if he could stay healthy.

Her win got piggy backed by other contributors as well. Well over a million being raised. Good for her!
  5. I very much agree. Based on what Young has done, i don't see it as being much of a gamble regardless of how a Brentz experiment might work out. Personally, I would not write off what Barfield has done this year as simply being AAAA calibre either.
  6. I've liked Sam Travis for some time now but I don't think that another singles hitter at first base is going to do us any good. We need bigger bats. You have to have some people who can produce with big hits. You just can't rely on dinging and donging if you want to win big. If your pitching is out of this world good, well then maybe - ours isn't. It has nothing to do with whether people enjoy big hitters as opposed to little hitters or not. It has everything to do with what it takes to win.
  7. a simple DNA test should clear things up -lol
  8. Max - Are you related to AB?
  9. It came across exactly like you wanted it to. Good job.
  10. Some of this is determined by the perspective of the evaluators. I love the fact that Benintendi plays hard and is hitting. I do think that that makes him special (not Stanton special but special nonetheless). What makes him somewhat less special in my mind is that he does things that really are not fundamentally sound on occasion. i still like him though but when i look at the whole body of work - I see special potential who isn't there yet.
  11. Kind of like how people from other parts of the country view our Patriots, Red Sox, and very soon again CELTICS. A little bit of a head scratcher though since the Yanks really are not that good. lol
  12. I don't sense authoritarian in you. I am very familiar with those types of people. They can never be wrong. Keep on keepin on my friend.
  13. !!! - I agree - Even it it doesn't lead to runner advancement, it is still ridiculously piss poor baseball.
  14. I really like Mookie and players like him but I am thinking that his future play is apt to lie somewhere between what we saw last year and what we are seeing this year. People have talked on occasion here of trying to lock him up for the next decade. I'm guessing that management has to walk a fine line here. If he is willing to take that hometown discount maybe but if he wants the Ferrari contract, maybe he has to play out the string. I like him and the skill set that he brings but I can't help but think that he is just as replaceable as most of the rest of them.
  15. Moon - I think that I should have added - but who the hell gets to define what normal is? We are all different. We all bring different perspectives to this board. It is a good place to share and yap away.
  16. you have watched every pitch of every game for decades??? - sometimes 2 or 3 times??? Good for you Moon - whatever floats your boat. I know no posters here who avoid stats. Being respectful is the key. If you are happy doing what you do, that is a good thing. My idea of a normal person's life, would not line up well with yours.
  17. I absolutely love this game and have forever but I don't think that I have the time to study the metrics (be they advanced or ohterwise), watch the games, and live a normal person's life. When faced with the dilemma of having to choose one over the other, I would always choose to watch the games. That is where I get my enjoyment from. I believe that watching them will tell more about them then a study of their stats.
  18. If he is, as I have said many times, Stanton won't be coming to Boston.
  19. I have no doubt that he will be a fine player for us or for anyone but I still start to squirm every time a ball is hit his way. To his credit he does make most plays and just like in the game of golf it isn't about looks but personally I haven't seen much growth this year with respect to his 1. playing the wall 2. looking comfortable on routine plays 3. throwing the ball accurately to where it needs to be thrown. He is going to get better out there for sure but I don't know about a future gold glover. For the record - since I don't care about the facts, I don't give a rat's ass about what the metrics might say. Before the personal attacks start, I sill like him.
  20. I agree with you here. Stanton should be on our wish list. I would do a package built around Beni for this 27 year old star yesterday but I just don't see it working out from a $ standpoint or a player package standpoint. I also agree with you with respect to your "non" Mike Trout comparison.
  21. I love their team speed. I love that stat - 23 an 1 in games that we have stolen more than one base. Anybody who knows anything about the game knows that that particular stat doesn't tell the whole story of the 23 and 1 but it sure has helped this team be a successful team. They should continue to do what has worked. This team just hasn't proven that they can win consistently on the backs of their bats alone. Their speed is a legitimate weapon.
  22. I'm not a big fan of fighting in sports in general. I understand it though and I love the fact that these guys still have passion. I just hope that if we ever get involved in a good old fashioned ass kicker it is over something more significant that someone bunting to take advantage of an opponent's weakness or a hard swing and a miss at a pitched ball. I think that maybe we are getting just a little too soft these days.
  23. A couple of observations that I have made. First of all once again to note that the Red Sox are 23 and 1 when stealing more than one base. That is a stat that I like and justifies in my mind how effective and disruptive an athletically fast lineup can change the complexion of a game. With Sabathia's absolutely asinine comments about bunting it just confirms that the game really hasn't changed. He is a whiner who is trying to create a real rivalry that certainly doesn't exist like it did a few years ago with respect to these two teams. Most of us realize what a joke his comment was. I'm glad that Nunez that bad boy plays for us. He gets drilled for swinging too hard in one game and is criticized for bunting his way on in another. Man, these are grounds for a knock down dragout if I ever saw one - lol. I really hope that if we ever do get into any type of brawl again that it is over something that at least makes sense. Who knew that bunting and running the bases could cause so much turmoil. Both of our catchers look like all-stars compared to Sanchez for the Yanks. There is really 0 that he does better as a backstop than either Vazquez or Leon. This version of the Yankees doesn't even bring out the true Yankee disliker in me.
  24. yes they were - appearing bright and articulate! They tried to get Kyrie to get down and dirty as to why he was leaving cleveland but he wouldn't go down that road.
