  1. I'm not sure what I want to see with respect to Hanley but I do think that his best is behind him. He really has been an inconsistent player for some time now. Moreland has grown on me and if we could have a dh in there who could really hit I think that I would be fine with him at first next year. I think that another big question is what will become of Pedroia going forward? I'm opposed to using him in a dh role and I just don't see his body holding up over the long haul. A regular second baseman needs to be an everyday player. Have to be able to count on him.
  2. I'm with you on this one. This team has over achieved all year. I really started to like them after Farrell confronted Pomeranz in the dugout after he appeared upset over the early exit. I don't buy in to the theories that promote the "below their norm" performances by so many of these guys. Statistics can be made to paint the picture that you want to see. Hard to disagree with the facts - I just do in this case I guess. Somebody was able to milk out every last bit of ability that these guys had to give. Regardless of what anybody thinks of his in-game blunders, don't you have to give Farrell and his coaching staff some credit? I do. Now, with all that being said, if I was actually playing or coaching in the American league, the Red Sox would be the team I would least like to play. They are just to0 unpredictable. They could lose early - they could go all the way.
  3. this buds for you!!!!! took awhile but you did it!
  4. This team deserves to celebrate!!! let's go -
  5. You ain't young in my book Max -lol. - Pomeranz at 28 is though. Kid deserved that ovation.
  6. Max - I just have to say this - How far that young man (Pomeranz) has come. I'm pretty happy for him.
  7. Sometimes there just isn't going to be a good explanation. Pedroia is aging and has been beat up . Ramirez has just been painfully inconsistent. He isn't the same guy he was when he broke in. Bradley has pretty much been this way for a few years. If you are talking about Betts and Bogaerts I agree but other than those two guys - really come on. The entire team! Most of us kind of thought that Leon wasn't the guy we watched last year. I understand that it is important to search for answers when things don't go as planned but sometimes they just don't. This particular team has over achieved this year.
  8. After 160 games this has to be true. This is who were are.
  9. Your last sentence I agree with entirely!
  10. Moreland - nice play
  11. Come on Chili, can't you teach these guys to hit? lol
  12. Last time I checked you still couldn't make chicken salad out of chicken s***. Now - our guys aren't chicken s*** by any means but I've been watching them all year just like everybody else. It is amazing to me that we are where we are.
  13. If Chili had good hitters to begin with, he would be considered a genius.
  14. I just think that we have some differences of opinion here and that is about it. I believe as I think at least one other person must that these guys are in fact over achievers. What we are seeing this year very well might be who they are. When there is a problem, of course it makes sense to look for reasons for its cause. I just think that it really is a case of seeing it and hitting it as much as anything. I don't think that Chili Davis is the problem at all.
  15. He might not be what people want in the broadcast booth but he could pound that baseball. A big man who hit a bunch of big homeruns. We kind of lost out on his potential.
  16. some of "we" do for sure! I'm not buying any talk about a need for a new hitting coach either. It is about the players.
  17. I like the approach the Astros took to E-Rod last night. While everybody was thinking that E-Rod must have been tipping pitches or maybe it was the pre-game scouts that gave them the boost, in reality it was a pretty simple aproach - see the ball hit the ball. Sounds pretty simple doesn't hit amid all this talk of hitting technique that our hitters are lacking in. I still just don't think that our guys are all that good when it comes to seeing it and hitting it. You want better hitters at this level, you need to go out and get some better hitters. Our guys have over achieved.
  18. sorry about that - 4 short pops I thought had to warrant a response and believe me I'm really not a huge fan of Pedroia's, just realistic. I love Hernandez but comparing him to Pedroia - not quite yet.
  19. Wow - i guess when it comes to Pedroia it is a good thing I don't place any importance on such things as War or Ops or all those other ******** 3 or 4 letter statistical interpretations. I'll never let the facts get in my way!
  20. Porcello has showed his Pomeranz (which we saw once) side when he has been taken out of a game recently. It amazes me that he can pitch so poorly and not expect to be taken out. Unlike Sale of recent games, Porcello I would argue should have come out earlier last night and maybe even had his ass kicked in the dugout.
  21. I agree - they are almost all tradeable for the right deal.
  22. He's just being sarcastic again right ?
  23. All depends on who you got coming back in the trade. There aren't many of these guys who would be untouchable if the right deal came along.
