  1. Your last sentence I agree with entirely!
  2. Moreland - nice play
  3. Come on Chili, can't you teach these guys to hit? lol
  4. Last time I checked you still couldn't make chicken salad out of chicken s***. Now - our guys aren't chicken s*** by any means but I've been watching them all year just like everybody else. It is amazing to me that we are where we are.
  5. If Chili had good hitters to begin with, he would be considered a genius.
  6. I just think that we have some differences of opinion here and that is about it. I believe as I think at least one other person must that these guys are in fact over achievers. What we are seeing this year very well might be who they are. When there is a problem, of course it makes sense to look for reasons for its cause. I just think that it really is a case of seeing it and hitting it as much as anything. I don't think that Chili Davis is the problem at all.
  7. He might not be what people want in the broadcast booth but he could pound that baseball. A big man who hit a bunch of big homeruns. We kind of lost out on his potential.
  8. some of "we" do for sure! I'm not buying any talk about a need for a new hitting coach either. It is about the players.
  9. I like the approach the Astros took to E-Rod last night. While everybody was thinking that E-Rod must have been tipping pitches or maybe it was the pre-game scouts that gave them the boost, in reality it was a pretty simple aproach - see the ball hit the ball. Sounds pretty simple doesn't hit amid all this talk of hitting technique that our hitters are lacking in. I still just don't think that our guys are all that good when it comes to seeing it and hitting it. You want better hitters at this level, you need to go out and get some better hitters. Our guys have over achieved.
  10. sorry about that - 4 short pops I thought had to warrant a response and believe me I'm really not a huge fan of Pedroia's, just realistic. I love Hernandez but comparing him to Pedroia - not quite yet.
  11. Wow - i guess when it comes to Pedroia it is a good thing I don't place any importance on such things as War or Ops or all those other ******** 3 or 4 letter statistical interpretations. I'll never let the facts get in my way!
  12. Porcello has showed his Pomeranz (which we saw once) side when he has been taken out of a game recently. It amazes me that he can pitch so poorly and not expect to be taken out. Unlike Sale of recent games, Porcello I would argue should have come out earlier last night and maybe even had his ass kicked in the dugout.
  13. I agree - they are almost all tradeable for the right deal.
  14. He's just being sarcastic again right ?
  15. All depends on who you got coming back in the trade. There aren't many of these guys who would be untouchable if the right deal came along.
  16. I bet we agree on this - He plays for us and we are damn happy he does!
  17. Moon - I just don't see his losing games or pitching worse I guess as the season goes along as meaning that he is definitely fatigued. I understand totally that that is the theory that people are going to hang their hats on. Might be right. Every player in the game could use a little rest right now. If anything, I think that that velo chart says that he ain't losing because he is wearing out physically. Maybe - but that is just a guess -
  18. Ma Nature is going to have her way with him I think. I heard so many times before and after the trade how his arm slot and delivery in general would lead to all sorts of arm issues. Until something really happens, I'm going with the theory that this is who he is. he has had a fairly reliable career to date. He has such great stuff I think that we expect him to win everytime he gets to the mound. I know I do - He is must watch tv for me when most things on tv suck.
  19. Thanks for the info. If I'm not reading the chart incorrectly, there really was only one early season game - one other maybe in which his fastball appeared to be a little slower than last night. I understand the concern about him getting fatigued, I just don't see that as the current issue right now.
  20. I posted earlier that if he looked fatigued at all last night, I must have missed it. Pomeranz maybe - his velocity was noticeably down. Sale not so much. Looked like there were a number of pitches that just caught the k zone if they had been called strikes things might have gone differently. His stuff looked just as nasty last night to me as it has all season. He go hit and that is it. Happens .
  21. Makes you wonder doesn't it - Why would Red Sox management not pay attention to this forum? We got answers to all problems.
  22. It's just the way it has been all year. They have scratched along just well enough to get it done. Injuries, poor performances, bad defense, s***** base running, a lousy manager, under performances by supposed super stars, and more injuries, and somehow this team is still in first place. Enjoy the ride I say!
  23. I must have missed something last night as I was watching Sale pitch. The part I guess where he was supposed to look tired out and fatigued and in need of rest. He had if anything more velocity on his fastball than he has recently. Looked pretty strong to me. Toronto hit the ball. Give them credit.
  24. I think that Pomeranz did look tired.
  25. I know what he did but I really don't anything at all about the circumstances. When you are that good and you are playing for a suck franchise it must have been driving him crazy. We have had a chance to see this guy up close and personal. Looks to me like he is all about the winning. I'm sure that he likes his paycheck but I don't think that that is what drives him. Just like Kimbrel - two guys that just work. They want the ball when it is all on the line. We are fortunate.
