He is going somewhere I think after what he has been told. Look on the bright side Slasher, if DD signs someone else or trades a player for someone else, it gives more bitching and hind sighting opps for everyone. lol

We can hope but I don't think that it will ever really change much here. Until I became a poster here, I have to admit I tended to forget the GM's names from time to time.

Do you really give a s*** who the GM was when X,Y, and Z were signed? A year or two ago we had arguments over which GM did this and that but in this last episode it has become an obsession. Giving credit to a GM for signing the best available players in any draft and for their future development is giving them credit for doing something that with a little help a trained monkey could do. Note to world - give the credit to the work the players have put in not the general managers. I was just a teacher in the trenches so maybe that is why I think that giving much credit to the suits not getting their hands dirty is a waste. If trying to paint a pretty picture of a former GM and vilifying someone else floats your boat, I guess you get to have at it. It isn't even baseball talk in my opinion though. We have created quite a divide for ourselves haven't we. None of us here know which GM was responsible for this or that and someone of us really don't care. The current guy in charge will always be the one I am cheering for.

This could be me writing this. I think possibly that a majority of Sox fans feel this way. We are not and never have been a small market team.

Dave ain't done. If it becomes just about $, I really don't care what he cherry picks. The money is there. You budgetarians might not think so and you might fret and fume about not being able to resign this guy or that guy and I say good for you. If it is just about taking on his contract dollars, then the Sox are still in the game because if JH wants him badly enough, he can afford him. Plus - he can sign any of our current players that deserve to be reupped. It is not about the money but I bet he is happy knowing that so many of his Talksox followers care so much about he he spends it.

I take all of my meatball comments back - I am the meatball! I would bet a great deal (figuratively ) of course that Pomeranz will win twice as many ml league games as Espinoza before it is all over.

Come on Slasher - You forgot to add that while trading away a whole bunch of guys who probably never would have played for us, we got a fairly good return. I guess if we had won the east for the last couple of years and still had every "prospect" that we traded, things would be pretty good. You have to get over this Espinoza thing. I'm just kidding with you - I feel as though I have to say this because we are in our moody cycle.

Celtics looked pretty pedestrian last night. Outplayed by Detroit. Drummond was a monster. Horford could not deal with him at all. I would like to see Morris play with a little more aggression to. At least with Smart when he has a bad game the effort is always there. he had a good game last night.

I hear you here for sure. I still am optimistic about Price giving us good quality going forward though. I am very much opposed to giving long term contracts to any veteran over the age of 30, but rather than dwell on the down side of it, I see it differently. We are one of the few teams who appear able to do it. But I am not a fan who is going to do much more than voice my opinion briefly and than move on.

Really - I just read through the posts and found them kind of humorous. There really are some of us who post here who honestly don't see it as our life's work. It is entertainment. Says here you have been a member since 2016. Baby oh baby - some of the postal feuds prior to that date were epic.

What I really like about DD is that none of us meatballs here have one single clue as to what he might do. It is entirely possible that JH has given him the green light to spend any and all that he wants, budget be damned. You (we don't ) don't know. All of this conjecture and pretend is fun for sure but that really is what it is. For those of you who think that you are the brains behind what might happen because you have worked out the figures so it is pretty obvious as to what we have to spend, good luck with that. We all recognize our needs. Not some new pit of revelation. We all are probably on the same page when it comes to signing older veterans to long range contracts. Not stunning - not new. What we don't know is what is going on with DD and JH when it cones to how they feel this club can be improved and how much money it will take. They might do a lot and they might do very little as well! It is going to be interesting.

Most of us have expressed how important it is to be solid defensively up the middle. Although I think that Swihart still has the potential to play somewhere at the ml level, I guess I would be pretty surprised if he was able to play second base well enough to pass the gloves of Hernandez, Marrero, and Lynn in that order for me. Guys who have spent the bulk of their careers around the second base bag.

I have felt this way for a while as well. I also see this as an opportunity for some of these guys. It is possible that we already have our future second baseman in our system.

With the way this team is being currently built, a lot of money could be saved in uniform expense! I am finally realizing what the deal is - we do have a budget.

Agree - When playing, Hernandez showed clearly that he had more to offer than any of the possible substitutes for Pedroia at second. The Red Sox had already made a commitment to him. There is no reason to think that if he is healthy going in to the spring that he will be ahead of all of these guys. I would include Holt in that group.

They really did not look very good as a group against Dallas last night but once again - when you have the bast player on the court you always have a chance. Can't get over how bad Smart can look at times and at how big he turns up at others!

He is a beginner in many respects. He still has the talent it just didn't decide to disappear. This is where I tend to be bothered by the over use of analytics. He has hardly played and someone truly thinks that it is the predictable going forward with respect to what he might do. I'm with you- I really hope he gets a chance and gets it done. If he is healthy, I believe he will.

Being a Maine guy, I admit my bias. I like Butterfield. I also liked Amaro. They both were tireless workers who knew how to teach the game. I hope that Feebles is a good one.
