I'm primed for a shitstorm. I need just a little more of Harmony trying to explain to me that that crap ass slide by Austin the other night was not fundamentally f***ed up.

stop that slasher - to much work for me plus I might find out that there was a least one moron who thinks that right now we might be better off with one our low A guys in center. lol It's been a good discussion. Seriously I can see that people are frustrated with him though but it kind of sounds like a couple of you guys interpret that frustration as meaning half if not more of the posters here don't want him out there. I don't see it that way. I like him very much but I think that he needs to hit just a bit better than some of you do I guess. I think that he is an elite center fielder but we have some resident statistical geniuses here (and yes that is what sarcasm really looks like Natick NC) who don't consider him elite like I do. So I guess I am surprised that some of those folks seem to be defending him all of a sudden. I'm hoping that he hits so this discussion will ultimately end. He is the best we got right and he ain't bad.

My guess is that he is pissed off that it isn't just about him anymore. He will help us for sure but maybe him being out for awhile has been good for him and the team. They are doing pretty damn good without him.

It is just goofy! They can't seem to come up with name. Looks to me like what I just said to MVP - If you don't just love JBJ and everything about him I guess you must hate. Tough crowd here . You sure can't criticize him. lol

You should now by now that if you don't prove on here that you absolutely love JBJ and all things about him then you must hate him. I just would like to know who these people are who want to see him traded right now. I've asked numerous times for anyone who doesn't think that he is our best option in center field at this time to speak up but no one ever speaks up.

I'm on this wavelength too. No normal person really wants to see these guys risk injury by brawling but like so much else on occasion it is part of the game. They support each it looks to me. I was amazed at Joe kelly - no backdown. It's the team's attitude I think. I really love the fact that Pedroia gets to sit and watch it. I'm pretty sure he will be on board with the rest of them when he returns.

and I think that his value might even be underestimated - I absolutely loved what he said about analytics in his latest interview. He believes in them and thinks that there is great value in using them but they are not the end all - as he said there is no way to quantify what it takes to get the last 3 outs in the 9th inning. If he continues pitching at the level he has and currently is, who is to say that he isn't as valuable to a team as any other player could be? It might be just a matter of how you look at things in general I guess. He might be worth a lot for us to sign him.

Just to clarify - Are you just funning me or do really believe what you are saying here about JBJ and how he would have played in 1975? Not to be contrary but I really hope you don't mean this.

which means what exactly that Austin's leg had to move farther away form second base to get to him? rules can be confusing.

harmony - I'm kidding with you!. If I knew you I think based on your writing I would like you. Don't take anything I ever say personally. this has been wonderful for me because it has been a debate over something I really think I know something about. I tolerate all of the talk about statistics and analytics and I do try to comment on a few things but for me this is what it is all about. Real baseball and incredible nuances. I love this - passion - you cannot imagine how it affects me to not be actively involved in something that meant so much to me for so long. I'm retired now and for me I'm not sure I like it.

Spud - It is possible I guess that he is an intelligent person who really knows nothing about how the game is actually played. Probably I will told soon about how he played college ball or maybe even in the minors. I won't be impressed. lol

Actually that is an intelligent comment. But if that type of slide occurs in any baseball game in ml baseball there will be some sort of retaliation. Even the mariners would have done something. Even if it was just to make faces at the opponent. that way no one gets hurt.
