  1. I think that that is the point and if anybody compares JD to any of those guys in that outfield, they are delusional. He is what he is and most of us are damned happy we have him. Cora is for sure going to use him in the outfield and people are going to have to just live with it I guess. Quite a few people here have repeatedly said how bad he is. I'm assuming that they aren't basing their opinions simply on what the defensive stats have said. they must have watched him play extensively as well. I have not and I'm going to give him and his coach the benefit of the doubt. I don't think that he looks smooth out there but he has done the job. No complaints from me.
  2. I don't think that he has hurt us much out there so far. However Cora wants to use the guy works for me.
  3. I do to but so far he has made the plays. He hasn't looked stellar on every play but he has done the job. Cora is going to rest his guys and run them through a rotation. We've seen that. Moreland is going to be at first a good deal. Ramirez is going to be doing some dhing and JD is going to see some action in the outfield. I know how you feel about Martinez and his fielding but Cora must have some confidence in him I guess.
  4. Glad to have you back with us Dojji and good luck. I don't think that Cora is nervous at all about using JD occasionally out there. so far so good although I admit it hasn't always looked pretty.
  5. I don't think he will either for a while but someday maybe.
  6. We've talked about Devers growing into this position for some time now. He has the opportunity with this team and the way they are playing to do just that. He is young, he is a worker, he has all of the tools to play that position well going forward. I hope he gets a chance to anchor third base for us for a long long time. How many of his 4 errors have been throwing errors? He has excellent hands and pretty good footwork. I think that he is going to be very good over there.
  7. I don't think that there is any reason at all to break that outfield up but it does make the concept of resting everybody more palatable. I don't think JD is as bad as people seem to think he is out there.
  8. How about this - I agree entirely. Williams I suppose goes a little under the radar unless you were around to see what he accomplished or if you are somewhat of a historian of the game. Personally I like the fact that you even left a little room for Williams to be first on the list. Guess I would go Francona - Williams - Williams.
  9. So it seems. I'm thinking that I wasted most of my adult life doing stuff I didn't need to do. lol (had a lot of fun doing it though - acted like I was important all the way too!)
  10. I I'm just a slow learner. You know me - old school eye testing fool.
  11. See that's just it i don't propose how to solve any of these roster problems that we face - I'm glad that they are good problems to have. i'm leaving this up to DD. I've been real pleased with him and his moves so far.
  12. and who knows Thornburg might still turn out to be a positive for us.
  13. I made it to the end of the Bruins game and that was it. it is just an exciting time to be a Boston fan. Wait - It has always been exciting.
  14. We really didn't need his bat either. Could have brought in another pitcher. lol Couldn't help it.
  15. I think Bogaerts will and should be back in the lineup as soon as he is ready as for the rest why change anything. I think that they will find a way to handle all of the comings and goings. Don't fix what ain't broke right?
  16. i thinks so! I understand for sure that Moreland isn't the hitter Martinez is by any stretch but he is another great character move who does have some talent. Character still counts. I like thinking that before these guys are brought in, particularly the role players, the type of person they are as well as their talent gets considered. Also looks like people are just going to have to live with JD in the outfield more than they thought as well. I'm ok with that too.
  17. I know this. Some big ifs with some of these guys coming back though. I'm missing something about Hembree I think. Lots of people have been critical of him. I like him. We don't know what the current thinking is with respect to these guys coming back from various injuries. Time will tell.
  18. I agree - but no reason for Spud to stop there! Lots more ammunition.
  19. Looks like Pomeranz tonight.
  20. I hope Moncada turns in to a super star. I enjoyed having a chance to see him in Portland. Have to say though that the trade for Sale was one for the Red Sox history books. I loved it then and I love it more today. Hard to overpay for one of the top pitchers in the game.
  21. I think that the Martinez signing was just an outstanding move. You are right he is a professional hitter. He is a piece of the puzzle that this team needed. I think Pomeranz is up real soon. We'll see how he does. I think our starting pitchers right now are going at it like they don't want to be the guy who screws it up. Good competition. Bullpen has looked surprisingly good lately too. Incredible run - I wish the west coast games could start earlier! lol
  22. 4 and 0 in one run games - 16-2 overall really tells the story - great start! great team?
  23. What if we just kept the guys we have and enjoyed them as much as possible.
  24. I would absolutely hate to see Wright moved to the bullpen. Don't like knuckleballers out there at all. I think that he is going to have to prove once again that he can pitch at this level. I think that the competition is good for all of them. I'm thinking that Pomeranz has to show us something as well if he has thoughts about getting any kind of big payday in the future and particularly so if he wants to stay in boston. This is a damn good baseball team as is and when things are going good (great in this case) it is hard to break up winning combinations.
  25. Francona has to get the not and rightfully so but Dick Williams is on his heels for sure. Cora is off to a nice start. I like him too - he is off to a nice start. Five years from now if he is still here ok we'll see.
