Oh boy do I agree with this one. There are plenty of people who have a tough time ever admitting that they might be wrong. I try hard to stay away from those folks. They tend not to learn well because they already know everything.

If your last sentence has truth to it, I think that it is sad. I like to think that good baseball fans are able to tell the difference between a good or a bad decision regardless of whether it works or not. Plenty of good ones don't and plenty of bad ones do.

Have to say that in Holt's case if it is a hamstring strain, it very well might have something to do with his fitness level.

Got to tell you though Max doesn't it seem like that is the way of the world today? The more ridiculous something seems the more time is spent talking about it.

Max - Any chance you think that some here just want something to do so they post? It is a hobby for me. Gets a little trashy from time to time but really it is something to do that provides some sort of entertainment.

Cora strikes me as someone who really wants to know and understand where his players are coming from. In these cases, some players get treated differently. If you look at Chris Sale and he tells you that he can do what he knows he can do, just as Cora did, you just turn around and go back to the dugout. Cora knows the game well enough to understand that others in the rotation might not get the same treatment regardless of how they think they are feeling. I like that.

I liked what he did there as well but can you imagine the reaction it would have caused if it hadn't worked out. It was the right move whether it worked or not.

Once again, don't change what ain't broke. 24 games in and this starting pitching has been just incredible. How much of a role our catchers have had in it is debatable but one thing for sure is that they both can catch. No need to change a thing but wouldn't you think that something has to happen with Swihart at some point?

UN is a bright individual and it was a good post - one worth reading. it is also a post that if you change some of the wording, could be used to defend the points of view of the people who tend to have opinions that lean in the opposite direction. i don't necessarily buy into everything he said here but I still think that it is a good post. How about you Hitch - Do you feel the same way about some of the posts you read here that don't support you and your points of view? I hope that you do.

Have to say that I don't give a flying f*** about what anyone wants to believe in when it comes to baseball. I'm a fan who does feel that I have some education with respect to the game. I'm not interested in trying to discredit anyone or their particular opinion about the game although I will say that I enjoy reading and actually learning from the people who I believe have not only an extensive knowledge about the use of statistics as well as having some practical experience with the game itself. The beauty of it is i guess that I get to choose who these people are based upon what I read here. I have for me some pretty firm opinions and beliefs but I would never try to shove them down anyone's throat. What I see here are a few people who are so goddam sure that they are right about everything that they absolutely refuse to see more than just their own side of any arguement. I offer quite a few opinions here that I do not support with what some call quantifiable evidence because I don't think that they can be. This normally causes someone to claim that either my eyes and knowledge of the game is just f***ed up. That is when I react as do a few others here who share similar views. I don't have any need to be right at all but I do feel somewhat of a need to react when someone tries to paint me as an uneducated old dope with respect to my understanding of athletics in general. They might even be right but I don't need to constantly be reminded of it. Seems like we should be able to get along if we have the large goal - to support the team we love.

We know that Butterfield did a lot of other things that really helped these young guys too.

Exactly! For those people I have a deep amount of respect. Kind of like when you run a business or an athletic program, good leaders admit freely that they are not always right and certainly don't know everything that could be known. You try to find people that are loyal and can do things better than you can do in some instances.

I agree with you of course. I didn't assume that you were talking about any kind of defensive trade off. These two guys we have are both good catchers unfortunately right now they are barely hitting at all.

Sorry but you don't know me. My eyes are actually not biased at all. We have had this discussion before. We have two different opinions for sure. You are convinced that you are right and I am happy for you. Sorry - this was meant for Kimmi in reference to me seeing things in a biased way.
