  1. I know this. Some big ifs with some of these guys coming back though. I'm missing something about Hembree I think. Lots of people have been critical of him. I like him. We don't know what the current thinking is with respect to these guys coming back from various injuries. Time will tell.
  2. I agree - but no reason for Spud to stop there! Lots more ammunition.
  3. Looks like Pomeranz tonight.
  4. I hope Moncada turns in to a super star. I enjoyed having a chance to see him in Portland. Have to say though that the trade for Sale was one for the Red Sox history books. I loved it then and I love it more today. Hard to overpay for one of the top pitchers in the game.
  5. I think that the Martinez signing was just an outstanding move. You are right he is a professional hitter. He is a piece of the puzzle that this team needed. I think Pomeranz is up real soon. We'll see how he does. I think our starting pitchers right now are going at it like they don't want to be the guy who screws it up. Good competition. Bullpen has looked surprisingly good lately too. Incredible run - I wish the west coast games could start earlier! lol
  6. 4 and 0 in one run games - 16-2 overall really tells the story - great start! great team?
  7. What if we just kept the guys we have and enjoyed them as much as possible.
  8. I would absolutely hate to see Wright moved to the bullpen. Don't like knuckleballers out there at all. I think that he is going to have to prove once again that he can pitch at this level. I think that the competition is good for all of them. I'm thinking that Pomeranz has to show us something as well if he has thoughts about getting any kind of big payday in the future and particularly so if he wants to stay in boston. This is a damn good baseball team as is and when things are going good (great in this case) it is hard to break up winning combinations.
  9. Francona has to get the not and rightfully so but Dick Williams is on his heels for sure. Cora is off to a nice start. I like him too - he is off to a nice start. Five years from now if he is still here ok we'll see.
  10. I got to repeat - Everything we have seen from him so far is that he just wants to win. If he keeps pitching like he has for basically his whole career, he will get his payday. I hope that it is with Boston.
  11. Plus the fact that he sacrificed the entire future of our franchise by signing Moreland and keeping Holt. Freakin DD
  12. Everybody wants to see our guy get those wins especially when you probably are talking about one of the top 5 pitchers in baseball. My guess though is that what matters to Chris Sale is that his team wins. He is tough, talented and a great teammate. I am absolutely thrilled that we have him on this team.
  13. Don't go there - that summer should be a forbidden topic to discuss. lol
  14. Oh no sir doctor - not going to bite on this one. You are trying to lull us all to sleep.
  15. I think that it has been great that Pedroia has has to sit in that dugout and watch this team win without him. It should motivate him. Used to use an old trick with the prima donnas - put your hand in a bucket of water and watch the ripples build - take your hand out of the bucket and watch how fast everything gets back to normal. No one is indispensable - they can be replaced. I'm thinking that he comes back and helps this team.
  16. Now we are talking although I'd have to throw in that stiff Devers - he can't field his position.
  17. I don't think that anybody is super hyped up about moving JBJ. There is difference between wanting a guy who can really play to hit better and trading him. As the years go by though, trades are going to happen and someday he might be a part of one. As for our bullpen, I think that it could turn into one of our strengths as the season moves along.
  18. I wish my memory was better Moon (without looking back at every thread that has been written) but I remember this being mentioned and why not? I think that just about everybody that said anything about his 0 for whatever streak in spring training still thought that he would snap out of it. I hope that no one truly thought that all hope was lost with respect to Mookie. I didn't get that impression but I guess you never know.
  19. I didn't blame him at the time and I sure don't blame him now. My bet though is that when the time comes, he stays in Boston.
  20. They needed a whole new look and they got it. Farrell gone and Pedroia in the dugout for a little while = a damn good baseball team. Might even be as good as those Yankees! lol
  21. I think that you are right. Maybe some of our youngsters are in fact growing up. Sometimes younger guys obviously tend to be in awe of older proven veterans - makes sense. Playing with Pedroia in the dugout and succeeding has been good for this club. If he comes back healthy, he will help us but he doesn't need to worry about trying to be a leader. He just needs to play.
  22. It is all about health for this guy. On most teams, he is in the starting rotation for sure. I hope that that they keep him stretched out just in case.
  23. oh boy - He's too smart for any hometown discount either. What ever it takes might be where the Sox need to come from with this guy and his talent.
  24. I agree. It might be that Cora is going to move Johnson to the bullpen full-time. Not sure I am all in on that one but doing it could eventually give us a great bullpen. When Wright gets his chance, I think that he is going to have to pitch well. As for Velazquez, what's not to like there? I think that he has earned the right to pitch for the big club at this time as well. The only place I might disagree with you here, is that I wouldn't put Wright in the bullpen. Maybe as a last resort but right now I like our depth and I think that our bullpen has the potential to just get better as the season rolls along.
  25. It's a luxury to have two pitchers at the top of the rotation like Sale and Price. With those two leading off for us, we have one of the best one two punches in the game. It is hard to turn the page sometimes I guess but I haven't seen anything from him this year that is negative at all.
