  1. Yes, Aaron Judge (6'7" 282 pounds, 31.5 BMI), for one would probably object to being called obese.
  2. Kevin Cash should be instructing his hitters not to hit the ball in Mookie's direction, not in the air at least LOL
  3. A post that didn't age well. But if the Braves had cashed in more runs early...
  4. Dave Roberts apparently made a grievous tactical error in Game 3 burning Urias for 101 pitches in a 15-1 blowout. I think it was on the MLB website a guy wrote an article questioning that move after the game.
  5. Well, it would be heartless in the way that many business decisions are. The question is whether any other team would do differently, and I don't think any would.
  6. His 2021 arb salary will probably be about 4 million.
  7. It was the second game in a row Cash hooked his starter earlier than some managers would have. But as he said, that's what they've been doing all along. He seems like a good manager to me, but there will always be second-guessing. I thought it was a vary ballsy move by Dave Roberts calling on the recently-struggling Jansen with the season (and maybe his job) on the line.
  8. Also, arbitration contracts are not fully guaranteed. Player can be cut before end of spring training and receive only a fraction of salary.
  9. Personally, I always give extra credit to any team that knocks out the Yankees.
  10. I'm a little surprised you would say that - you're kind of the standard-bearer for the "playoff numbers are a small sample" position...
  11. That's a fair argument. I've always been of the opinion it was a great comeback, not a great choke. Games 4, 5 and 6 were incredibly tight and nerve-wracking struggles and we were very fortunate (not lucky) to win all three. In Game 7 the Yankees were down to the dregs of their pitchers. The one huge error made in that series was by Torre in Game 5 when he brought in Tom Gordon for the 8th instead of Rivera. And Rivera ended up pitching 2 innings anyway, but too late.
  12. Scariest guy in the lineup for sure.
  13. The craziest thing about this postseason is the big innings.
  14. Sherman didn't express that very well. I think 'muscle-bound' is more appropriate.
  15. His actual 2020 salary was $2.475 million. Maybe you're looking at the pro-rated number. He had a 0.6 fWAR this year, roughly equivalent to 1.6 over a full season. Not sure you can call him a difference-maker.
  16. I agree on all points.
  17. In those 4 title seasons for the Sox, their accumulated postseason record: 44-14
  18. Boone is Cashman's boy, though.
  19. There are only so many slices in the money pie, even when you're the Yankees.
  20. We made pretty big deadline moves in 2004, 2007, 2013 and 2018.
  21. I'm just saying that those deadline moves can be key to address weaknesses that have arisen or increase depth.
  22. Snake is laboring but no damage yet. Needs to be a little more efficient.
  23. I didn't blame Grady that much at the time, but I got very angry when I found out later that Theo had gone over the numbers with him before the game and basically instructed him to get Pedro out of there at 105 pitches no matter what, and Grady chose to defy him.
