We certainly didn't need another DD right now. However... -We traded Mookie Betts and made much of the advantages of the tax re-set. -As of Jan. 17, our upgrades to a .400 team are Matt Andriese and Hunter Renfroe. -
I would have much preferred Porcello to Perez.

Sorry, Kimmi, the Perez signing has had kind of a depressing effect on me. I still have hopes, but I'm scratching my head on what the plan is.

What we don't know is how much budget room he's been given by Henry. We were led to believe they'd be doing some spending. Still a lot of time and players out there, though. I'll wait until I see the team. -

So what do those regular fans and new fans really want to see in a baseball game. Do they want 2 hour games? 7 inning games with the runner on second rule for extras? Maybe they do. I have no idea. Somebody better figure it out.

I think pace has been an issue for a long time. Didn't the marathon Sox-Yankees games start early this millennium? Hitters being super-patient, taking a lot of pitches, driving up pitch counts to get the starter out and into the bullpen. And we liked all that stuff when it benefited our offense.

I think they would implement robot umps if they thought the fans would like it. I think right now they're generally very concerned about losing the fans.

The other thing about Stanton is, he's basically a DH now. He has so many issues with his legs that it would be silly to play him in the field.

I read that the Blue Jays offered 4/$78, which is $19.5 AAV. This way he gets an extra $12 mill guaranteed and presumably gets to play where he wants. Seems like a winner for both sides.

Very interesting they're putting him on the rule changes, after his comments suggesting all the metrics were having a negative impact on the entertainment quality of games. Have to give Manfred credit for a good move, I think.
